PapaG,

I don't feel like engaging in a debate about something so silly. Whatever I said that you want to debate, I retract. Whatever you say on the issue is correct.

I've edited the post in question. I hope LMA, his family, his agent, and anyone involved were not hurt or offended by what I said, as he is one my favorite Blazers.

I misinterpreted your post, and I apologize to everybody involved, including the invisible co-conspirators.

Aldridge demands a max contract, but can't even make the All-Star Team. He gets 1 rebound every 5 minutes while Joel gets 1 every 2.7 minutes. A top rebounder gets 1 every 3; a good rebounder gets 1 every 4.

Easy, why do you think Joel gets more rebounds? Is it possibly because his job is to go under the basket and bang and get rebounds? Pryz gets a ton of offensive rebs that are off of LA's shots.

If Aldridge wants the big bucks, he'd better get under that basket too and get his share of rebounds. While he's there, he can take higher percentage shots instead of, as you say, padding Joel's rebounding stats with a ton of misses.

Management is right when it tries to hold down Aldridge's demands. If he wants big money, he has a whole season to change his reputation from a softie.

But at what cost? So far it hasn't cost him anything. That doesn't mean it won't. I would think there would have to be some kind of middle ground in the way he did his business then and how he is doing it now. I think what is convaluting things right now for him is Vulcan. I think Vulcan has really tightened things up and I'm not sure it's needed. I think Paul could break even without the convuluted process Vulcan has.

why are you stirring the pot and not looking at reality? The economy is FAR worse than it was 10 years ago. Seriously. The NBA is going to lower the cap, no doubt about it. Would you not expect that would make for difficult contract negotiations?
