Batum didnt practice.... nothing serious

Roy looked great.. will start. He is more guarded with his words. I realize im gonna have to play through this. this was nates thinking... by pushing him to play. says its mental. jaynes is an idiot huh?

Camby was awesome blocking shots and has a great IQ. Nate loves him. Hes already teaching duante and jeff.

Team vibe is really great and upbeat. Very confident with camby. They are ready. Big relief deadline has come and gone.

Thanks Mixum; great news. Glad to see The One-Man Block Party mentoring our rookies.

Good to hear about Roy ... hope it holds up in game action.

With our mostly shitty perimeter defense, I'll bet Camby gets to clean up 5 blocks per game from the weakside alone.

So with the Babel-Quick translation machine:

TUALATIN, OR - Feb 18, 12:16pm
Batum went to the bathroom and Quick didn't see him come back.

Roy's hamstring is about to fall off the bone and slide down into his calf.

Camby was playing 2-on-2 with Dante against Nate and Pendergraph and swatting Nate's hobbled attempts at layins.

Everyone's still pouting about Travis and Blanky. "We missin' two troopers." Joel dropped a bomb to mourn Steve. We're losing by 30 tomorrow.

watch fucking howard start.

If he does, it'll only be for one game... and Nate will have a kick-ass second unit (:D) of Batum, Bayless, Camby, Rudy, and Cunningham. That lineup scores 120 a night off defensively-caused fast breaks.

That's not what Quick said in regards to teaching the rookies. He said that Nate had spent so much time teaching Dante and Jeff, and even Howard, the nuances of the center position recently. Then in walks Camby, and it's second nature for him. So Mac can focus less on the intensive teaching.

The only part Quick had to say about teaching the rooks anything is when Camby said, "Not in my house" by swatting their shots.

I see. Well, maybe he could teach Bayless a thing or two about actually getting a good shot off in the lane!

Of course Nate loves him, he can't play offense.

Sure. That way we can continue to be a super-efficient offensive team and everyone will heap praises on Nate, yet again. He is a sly one that dude.

For the record, despite all the injuries, we are #6 in the league in offensive efficiency. Crazy stuff.

I think this Camby trade is going to be the best pick up of all the trade day deals this year! Unlike the Cavs who are trying to buy Lebron yet another hooker to stay, and Dallas who just got one of the softest centers in NBA history in Brenda, we actually got a tough, smart, shock blocking vet who will be a force for our team and a definite need for us!!! Camby and Andre will be a fun inside/ oustside to watch and Howard can also now back up LA some more in a better natural fit for him. Further Bayless, Webster and Rudy can take a deep exhale and start really refining their positions.

We will be very happy with this one people! I'm sure of it! It starts with tomorrow and see if KG tries by punkin Camby? Wont happen!!! We just got a ton tougher! Our young players are going to get some serious teaching now with Howard, Andre and Camby. This will be great for these young blazers!

That is my hope. Rudy and Bayless will get to go at Camby a lot, I am hoping that by doing so, they can learn an important lesson about how to attack a shot blocker. Bayless needs to learn how to use his body to knock them back and create the separation needed to finish. Once he does that, it will be a big step forward for him.

Do you guys really think these guys did not go into the lane in practice against Joel and GO? They are big mofo shot blockers as well.

Rudy is working on the tear-drop and Bayless is just very, very young and very inexperienced. It would hopefully come with time - but I suspect they had enough practice going against big, bruising shot-blocking monsters in practice already.

I too think this trade got overlooked by the national media.

The Blazers were picked to go far this year. That prediction got derailed by injuries and once we lost our 2 centers, this team was basically written off (not much national attention).

But now the Blazers have a legit center again. If Camby can just hold down the center spot on the defensive end and the Blazers have a presence in the paint . .. this team can go as far as Roy can carry them.

Camby won't get hurt will he? You know with the PDX curse and all...........

It's stupid we still have Nate as a coach. There are so many better candidates out there. PJ Carlesimo, Avery Johnson, Byron Scott. Half the coaches in college could get more out of our roster than Nate it just boggles my mind.

Joel and Oden are much different shot blockers than Camby. Camby can cover a lot of ground, a lot more than those two centers typically covered. Neither one of those players has ever approached 4 blocks per game that Camby has approached in his career. Not even close.

I agree . . . but I think more important than that is for Bayless to hit that outside jumper consistently . . . I think that is the most important factor to Bayless being a successful PG.

Just have Bill Bayno sit on the bench with a smart phone and we all can Twitter him plays.

Both Joel and GO have a higher BLK% than Camby. They just did not play anywhere the same number of minutes per game as he did.

GO's BLK% this year of 7.6% is higher than Camby's best year in block% (7.3). I think you are underestimating how good these guys are.

It is very nice to have Camby - but as far as blocks, at this stage in his career, he is not as good as either GO or Joel.

How would you know anything about my respect for Joel and Gregs shot blocking?

Having a high block percentage and actually getting it done are two different things. One reason Camby is out on the floor more than they are, is because he knows how to block without getting in foul trouble. Getting a block without getting the foul, is superior to guys getting blocks and getting fouls in my book. The reason he can do that? Because he is more mobile than they are. Mobile shot blockers like Camby, Birdman, are very dangerous because they can cover more ground. Joel and Oden oftentimes have to wait for the shot to come to them. Guys like Camby and the Birdman go get blocks.
