Quick: Vulcans Dispatch Steve Gordon to Portland to Hover Over Nate

BGRantFan missed a very important part of the JQuick interview. Quick stated; " Steve Gorden was giving coaching advice to Wesley Mathews before a game." I would like to hear HCP's take on that quote. Could that have really happened? If so, Nate should have told him to go coach a 7th grade girls team and get the fuck away from my players.

Couple this with what HCP said, and I wonder if Nate didn't bring him in himself as a way to possibly get through to the players.

Missed that gem. God, it's even more out of control than I thought it could be.

So will Steve Gordon step in for Nate if Nate gets fired?

Steve Gorden isn't a coach. If Nate is having problems, why bring in a guy with zero credibility. My not hire Terry Porter or have someone that knows the NBA do it like a former player or coach? Why choose a nobody to do it? That would be like hiring someone from this forum to get through to his players. If Nate is that desperate, then HCP would be wrong and the organization would be done with Nate.

"He's the kind of basketball junkie you meet in the park who knows everybody and everything about the game," McMillan says. "He's a guy who should be in a higher position, with some team, but isn't."

This is from an article published in 1995. It would appear Nate held him in pretty high regard.

Since he insists on breaking his toy, maybe his Mommy Stern should give him a timeout in the corner.

Better yet, since the league is now buying teams they should just force Allen to sell to them. I gaurantee our record would improve immediately.

What do I get if I buy based on your "gaurantee"???

Hat Guy is better informed on this topic than everyone in this forum, and Jason Quick.

BGrantFan, every time Paul Allen exerts some direction onto his asset, you feel personally offended. You have a particular hatred for the Hat Man, who was training and coaching when McMillan was in diapers.

Have you ever owned a business? If so, did you control things, or just trust hired people with your money? If you kept hands off, is the business still around? Do you have any money left?

Drama just seems to keep coming at this franchise.

The 500+ empty seats at the Clippers game is telling. If you're not a hardcore fan how much BS can you take as a fan?

It sure is telling - it tells you that the Clippers suck and no one is ever excited to go to a game featuring the Clippers. It's just like when Oregon or Oregon State hosts PSU - some ticketholders don't bother going to see massacres. The place was full again tonight.

OMG! Someone on Paul's payroll is hanging around the team! This is a disaster of unbelievable proportions.... why, exactly?

What's next, complaining that Paul is interfering with the team by sitting courtside?

What does that even mean, "coaching advice"? If I run into Matthews downtown and tell him I'd like to see him pass to his teammates more, do we need a thread about how I've been giving "coaching advice"?

Yes, and we'd ask you to kindly fuck off with your "coaching advice".

Now I'm going to track down Matthews and give him some coaching advice, just to spite you.

Um, no, I don't, and I own my own business. Paul Allen is lucky that Bill Gates isn't a shark. Otherwise, I imagine Paul would be serving sandwiches somewhere.

OMG! barfo with another condescending post!

How does anybody know they are watching over Nate? Did anybody ever possibly consider that they are doing player evaluations as well?

Isn't that Cho's job? Or is Hat Guy the real GM?

I don't understand why anything that's alleged to be happening in this thread is a bad thing.

Dude ... Vulcans!

Anyhow, it's more about Cho's influence on decision-making to me. If Cho needs help evaluating the coach, well, perhaps he isn't up to the job.

Well the facts are they could have a management team at Vulcan that didn't give a shit about the team. If things were going really well and Vulcan is looking over their shoulder is one thing. But when things are going badly, management should be concerned, and should not be sitting back with their head in the sand.

Who is "management", though? Larry Miller? Rich Cho? Some guy who wears a hat? Bert Kolde? Exactly who is making decisions? Or perhaps more accurately, who isn't making decisions right now?

Too many warriors, not enough chiefs?

Paralysis by analysis?

Nobody wants to be held responsible for anything, for fear of another public shaming by Paul Allen?
