Quick was sour on Oden in 2008 (good read)

Quick thinks the reporter is the star, and the player is there to please the reporter.

First off, I listened to them and was, quite frankly, embarrassed. I didn't intend to come across so abrasive, but I did, and I have no other choice but to own up to it.

There is one line I would like to take back, where I said "I can't stand to be around" Oden. I think a more accurate reflection of my feelings would have been to say 'I'm sick of dealing with the entity of Greg Oden." The entity of Oden is the media mosh pits around him. It's hearing stupid questions, like ones about his beard. It's the incessant questions on the radio, and in internet chats, about him. And yes, it's the actual dealing with Greg himself. I totally stand by my comments that the guy is not pleasant to be around. There is nothing enjoyable about it.

Hey Quick. Nobody gives a shit what your feelings are. You're the peanut. Oden's the talent. Get it straight.

I will say that Greg was one of the coolest and most down to earth players I've ever been around. Quick is a tool that got paid to stir shit up. He won't be missed.

He and Canzano should be buried side by side.

Now.

What will the epitaph be on their joint tombstone? You just wrote it.

Awesome to rehash old shit that nobody wants to read.

What I love is hearing about how fans only want sunshine and daisies, especially from someone who only is about negativity.

I don't just want to hear sunshine and rainbows, although rainbows surely have their place. I have rainbow flags in my office and home. But honestly, this is 2013. Do we really really need to hear what a writer thought about a former player 5 years ago? Move on already!

Seriously, talk about sour grapes. So, Jason Quick doesn't like talking to NBA players. Perhaps he should have thought of that BEFORE he accepted a job as an NBA beat writer. Because frankly, NOBODY else cares about his job satisfaction. He chose to be an NBA beat writer, he accepted the position and cashed the paychecks. He has no right to complain. Boo fucking hoo. It's not like he was digging ditches for minimum wage.

What gets me is the number of sportswriters coming forward to praise Quick. Same thing happened when Ben Golliver got hired by whoever it was hired him. Are all sportwriters talentless hacks or is it just good policy to praise other talentless hacks so they don't stab you in the back when they get the chance?

They're a weird boys club. Similar to when politicians retire or die, no matter how much of an asshole the politician was, everyone (well, mostly everyone) praises them.

Seems like there is a lot of churn in the field. Guys move around a lot and you don't want to burn any bridges. The guy you piss of may end up being your future boss.
