Oh I agree ... Bt frankly, none of this season makes much sense to me and it's anybody's guess what Nate's real plan for Nicolas was. Regardless, I don't know if there's much to be learned with a post-mortem of this season. It's kind of like performing an autopsy on a dead sky-diver; did he die from the trauma of the fall or did he die of a heart-attack seconds before he hit the ground? Either way, dead is dead.

Agreed. I'd much rather just put this season in the rear-view mirror and move along. I don't expect that we'll have either Felton or Crawford to worry about next season.

Let's define two terms.

The article blames some bogey man it names "Black Friday." This is simply the knowledge, which all of us except Quick had, that Oden and Roy were done. It also blames the players for "tuning out" the coach. This is simply the inability of any veterans to play successfully in McMillan's horrible system. Only young know-nothings take his guff. For the first time in his coaching career he had a very experienced and talented roster, causing his helplessness. After each game he would blame his own players for lack of effort, when we could all see them struggling as hard as they could within his rotten system.

Quick's good guy, year after year, is whoever will talk to him, play tennis or golf with him, etc. His bad guy every year is whoever, whether player, GM, or owner, treats him like the peanut he is. The Portland media does not know its place and thinks that it is running the team.
