Quick's Story About KG

Anyone hear that this morning?

Apparently, (while Garnett was still playing for the T-Wolves), KG was taking part in the post-game press conference. Quick indicated that there was an apparent reluctance on the press folks' part to ask questions (and, for good reason ). So, Quick being the bold guy that he is asks, "KG, how did you guys lose the game tonight (against the Blazers)?"

KG then bent over and grabbed Quick's media pass (kind of snapping Quick's neck), glares at it, asks, "Who the _____ are you?!", then scoffs at him without answering the question.

Quick basically said that KG is one of, if not the, most disliked players in the NBA.....by press and players alike. Total jerk.

haha no doubt. This is one thing I'm really looking forward to seeing. KG is known for beating up on the rookies and young guys, and most of them will just back down. But Jeff will mess it up with him if KG tries to start some crap. This should be good.

I hope LaMarcus briefs JP on what to expect so he'll be ready for Garnett's huffing tactics, and ready with a quick retaliation for the inevitable cheap elbow shot. Establishing the barking order early will be important for Pendy's success against KG down the road.

Whoever retaliates against Garnett the strongest after the inevitable Garnett intimidation/cheap shot will be my new favorite Blazer. Hated by the press, I can believe. Hated by other players? Maybe Calderon et. al., but there is no way in hell you can find an ex-teammate of KGs who will bad mouth him like ex-teammates of Bryant's. In that respect he's very much like Sheed. He's the player that you hate until he's on your team. (Okay, so maybe Sabas, Boomty-Boomty and Big Baby might differ, but...) If Bryant was on my team, I'd start supporting another team. Basically, what he said. And he actually played, however briefly, with Garnett:

Kevin Garnett is also extraordinarily talented. Like, really, really good. And at first, I was afraid that he too suffered from the same syndrome as Bryant. His first words to me weren’t even spoken to me—they were spoken around me, as I ventured onto the court for my first pre-preseason pickup game.

It was not love at first sight.

But over the three weeks I spent around the man in training camp, I developed a relatively deep respect for him. I qualify that respect only because I realize that three weeks doesn’t seem all that long. An experience like an NBA training camp is something of a pressure cooker, though, and teammates learn about one another’s character very quickly.

Kevin Garnett shares some of Bryant’s personality traits. He’s arrogant…but he realizes it. He can be insufferable…but he laughs about it. He’s intense…but he can turn it off.

I'm not questioning KG having his teammates backs... he is without a doubt one of the most loyal teammates out there. But there is a way to at least conduct yourself as something somewhat resembling a human being, and not a senseless animal. The guy is a moron.
