Quincy Enunwa charged with assault

New York Jets rookie wide receiver Quincy Enunwa was arrested early Sunday evening and charged with simple assault, following an altercation with an individual at a hotel near the Jets' practice facility.

TMZ.com and the New York Daily News are reporting that this was a domestic dispute involving a woman, but the Florham Park Police Department has not confirmed that.

"I wish I could answer your questions, but it's a pending legal matter," Enunwa said Wednesday.

"I'm aware of the situation, but it's a pending legal matter, so I'm not gonna comment on it," coach Rex Ryan said.

Quincy Enunwa cleared of charge

New York Jets wide receiver Quincy Enunwa, a member of the practice squad, was cleared of a domestic violence charge Wednesday in Florham Park, N.J., municipal court.

The accuser, described as Enunwa's girlfriend, decided not to pursue the charges, according to the prosecution, but the two sides reached a conditional agreement.

There can be no contact between Enunwa and the woman for 90 days, according to Enunwa's New Jersey-based attorney, Anthony Fusco. If Enunwa violates the agreement, the case can be reopened and go to trial.
