why use the plural here? MZ seems to care, but no other Duck fan here has chimed in. Personally I couldn't have cared less about the timing of his announcement. My reaction on hearing this was... good for him. I didn't give it a second thought until I saw this thread

Fair enough, Stomp. I didn't read closely enough to see it was one person. Lol, might not have even posted if I'd noticed that.

Quizz owns the Ducks. It's clear the difference in the game was him declaring for the draft. Damn Vulcan mind games!

For those who claim it was "just another Monday", I call bullshit. I don't have a horse in either program, but I would call LaMichael James out if he declared on the day the Beavers were going to play for the National Championship.

Uh, co-apologized? Once wasn't enough?

lol sorry I was referring to me moreso agreeing with this

I'm not looking for an apology from you at all.

It had nothing to do with 'upsetting' the Ducks. It had everything to do with trying to take just a little bit of the focus off the attention the Ducks are getting on that day and trying to get people to focus on the Beavers.

Why would he care about getting people to focus on the Beavers when he's leaving them for the draft? Parting gifts?

I'd guess the combine will reveal these two to be substantially different as far as speed. Drew is/was really really fast posting a blazing electronically measured 40 time of 4.39 seconds at his combine, which made him the fastest RB in his class. Jacquizz seems to have okay speed at best. I'd guess he comes in at his combine in the 4.6 range. Despite having months to focus on the combine tests (like the 40) it's pretty common for players to post higher times at the combine then their collegiate media guide claim & the draft sites echo... we shall see whats really what on this

Regardless, I think this is a good decision because of the short shelf life reasons others have pointed to. Had he returned next season, his stock would have been unlikely to rise much (if any) as his size & and lack of top end speed concerns won't go away. He is shifty and decisive in his cuts though and at nearly 200 pounds he's a solid sure-handed option who could have a decent career in the NFL. Dude had a tremendous impact for Oregon State... best of luck to him

Repped for saying "couldn't care less" rather than saying "could care less" like most people who mis-use the statement.

You're missing the point -- yesterday was big to you because you're apparently a Duck fan. To anyone else, it was pretty much another Monday. The idea that Quizz woke up thinking, 'ha, ha I'm going to steal some news from the Ducks and make my announcement today" is really pretty ridiculous.

At most, I could imagine he wanted to minimize the limelight on himself as much as possible when he made the announcement and figured he'd make the announcement when a lot of the local press was out of state.

Honestly, I don't even get why you guys care. If the roles had been reversed and OSU and played last night, I wouldn't have given a rip about a UO player making a similar announcement. Would've been focused on the game my own guys were playing.

It most definitely was not "just another monday". I've never seen so much traffic on a Monday in my life. The freeways and roads were packed with people trying to get home between 4pm and 5. Tons of people who probably hadn't watched a single Ducks game all year were rushing home to watch the NC. It might have been "just another Monday" to you because you chose not to partake, but trust me, quite a few other people were excited about that game and not just Ducks fans.

I'm not clear on the theory here. So he declared on Monday to take away attention from Oregon? Why? First off, anyone with any sense would realize that would fail - playing for a national championship is going to be much more of a story than one guy - and not a Heisman trophy guy - declaring for the draft. And indeed, the big story was, by far, Oregon/Auburn.

Secondly, if you are a wanna-be NFL player, wouldn't you want the attention on you? It seems to me he did himself a disservice - he'd have been better off declaring on a slow news day, so that he could be the headline, instead of "Aw, Burned". Unless of course he cared more about sticking it to Oregon in a very ineffective way than about maximizing his personal outcome.

You know it's funny, my first thought when I heard he declared for the draft wasn't, "that bastard is trying to take away the spotlight from the Ducks." It was actually, "damn that must suck if you're a Beavers fan."

You are co-signing the fact that you didn't read the first post in the thread?

I'll see your "Didnt you read first post in the thread" and raise you a "See Post #36 in this thread for explanation"

My claim had nothing to do with Rodgers. It had to do with the people claiming the day one of our major universities playing for a National Championship was "just another Monday". My point was if OSU were playing for the National Championship and a Duck declared, I'd call out the Duck.

Probably the best decision. It's a weak RB class and his stock isn't going to get any higher. He's a small RB that won't overpower players in the NFL and he doesn't have lightning speed. Another good year in college won't change any of that. I think he goes in the 3rd round.

You're a very angry person.

Please stay on topic. Do you need me to resend you the pathetic PM you wrote me whining about people not staying on topic?

And no, I'm not angry at all. I have absolutely nothing to be angry about.

This is the off-topic forum sonny boy.

You'd call out the Duck for what, though? I don't see where anyone did anything wrong.

For trying to distract from the National Championship. It's okay that we disagree.

Lol -- this thread still has a heartbeat. If you're a student at OSU in Corvallis, I highly doubt the roads seemed too clogged with Duck fans trying to get home to watch the game. Think about it from where Quizz is sitting and this thread is ridiculous.

That said, I think this thread is its own rorschach test. If you're the type of person who would do something like that, then you probably think Quizz did too. If you're like me and it seems too dumb to even ponder, then you think Quizz didn't time it to steal duck thunder.

That's good, I guess. I mean, if it wasn't okay, we'd be in a lot of trouble.
