Like Carrot Top after him, Gallagher was a prop comic....he famously is the only person to ever walk out of a Marc Maron WTF interview......RIP ..I wasn't a fan but he was a hard working comic and damned good at it early in his career.....I think later on he got a bit jaded and grumpy but hey....he did what he loved even if he seemed really jealous of the comics that passed him by over the years

Obviously the fruit/vegetable smashing made him rich and famous, but he was a pretty intelligent comedian as well.

I saw Carrot Top at Saks 5th Ave in Vegas when he was yoked up. That was the weirdest celeb sighting ever.

Also saw Penn and Teller on the tram at the Vegas airport. Teller was talking :Sly:

At first glance I thought this was about one of the brothers from Oasis instead of the comedian ... never got this guys humor but some people somewhere must have thought he was funny to give him work all these years.

I thought Gallagher was actually two people?

His brother used to tour as Gallagher, but then violated an agreement the two had, and had to stop or change his name making it obvious he wasn't the real one.

I guess they ended up having a falling out.

It was amusing for 10 seconds or so the first time he smashed a watermelon. After that, I never saw him do anything interesting and tuned him out, decades ago.

Wasn't his act mostly racist, homophobic shit?
That's what killed his career after the eighties he kept dated jokes in circulation that were not PC by any stretch. He had racist and homophobic jokes, ethnic jokes, etc that his crowd had dumped knowing it wouldn't work anymore....stubborn guy. He had some great jokes if not for that stuff early on in his career....the guy did 14 comedy specials...had a hell of a career.

If you don't see any comedy in a guy opening with a fruit smashing bit and pivoting into ancient racist jokes ghostwritten by D.W Griffith, I don't know what to tell you. Good luck on your campaign. RIP
