Just like MOST improved. Look at Curry's numbers and you might make an argument that he is even better than LAST season.
There is no argument that Curry has improved. It's a well-accepted truth.

I hear ya. Thing is you or I could coach a team loaded like that. I think the real coaching is when you are a middle of the road team and kick ass when nobody expects you to.

You're right, but it's Klay beating Dame for an All-Star spot. Or Aldridge for that matter. They get the nod even though their numbers aren't better because of their team achievements. That's just how the league works.

How Stotts doesn't win Coach of the Year is beyond me. He has done MORE with LESS than anybody else in the league!

Oddly we still have a dozen poster here who think he's a bad coach.

One could make a pretty good argument ( and the East coast will for sure) that Boston's Brad Stevens has done even better with less. They have no one of Dame's caliber and they are sitting at 12 games over .500 currently in a tie for HCA in the 1st round.

Outside of Blazer fans, I suspect Stotts is highly respected. Blazer fans don't appreciate him because they have convinced themselves that Olshey has put together a roster of future super-stars. Everybody else recognizes that he has made chicken salad out of chicken shit! Stotts has made Olshey look good.

A lot of coaches are in difficult situations where any critics can argue against them and be right. If they lose you can critique what they did because you know when they did didn't work so any alternative has a chance of being better. It's super easy to point out flaws in hindsight.

Look at Monty Williams last year on the Pelicans, got fired while getting that wreck of a roster to the playoffs. They had many injuries last year too; he started Luke Babbitt when Anthony Davis was injured and won games to get in the playoffs. They were very competitive with the Warriors in a couple of the round 1 games.

They were picked by Vegas to have a winning record. They had many proven rotational players when the season started. They have an allstar which we don't have.

I do think he's an excellent coach but Stotts team has far more unexpected success.

Yes, they have an all-star but every GM in the league would take Dame over their all-star. CJ may be equal to their all-star in terms of who GM's would want so that gives the Blazers basically the 2 best players on both rosters. Honestly, is there anyone on their roster you would take for Dame or CJ straight up?

Brad Stevens deserves it.. Atleast Stotts has a superstar in Dame, Stevens has no all nba type of player

Did.... did.... did you just call Dame a superstar? I am in shock! YOU LOVE HIM. YOU REALLY LOVE HIM. ;)

I do agree, though, if it were a fair world, Stevens should get the nod. It'll go to Kerr, but if it were actually about coaching, it'd be Stevens.

I hope Houston doesn't get 8th seed because I would be rooting for them against gsw which is just not a good feeling. But honestly, it would be to awesome to see the cocky warrior be 1st round exit so I couldn't help myself

No, you root for Houston to lose that series THEN Golden State to lose the next series. WIN-WIN!

Well sure today we think that CJ is better. But if we're looking at the roster before the season the Celtics had around 7 players with a consensus around the league rated better than any Blazer outside Dame. The Celtics already were a playoff team with the same roster last year and added Amir Johnson. That's the testament HCP was referring to and I believe a fair case in favor of Stotts.

Yeah I thought of that the other day too. We didn't want to play the two time champion Lakers at all in round 1. All the analysts picked Dallas as the worst HCA team and the Lakers as the favorites. Well it would've been an epic year to beat the Lakers and they were a mess as Dallas proved in easily sweeping them in round 2. Would have been so sweet to end the Kobe-Phil 5 time title era ourselves even if we'd lost a round later.

One big concern with the Clippers is CP3; he has totally dominated Lillard on both ends basically every game we've played. He is an elite mid range shooter which we struggle to defend. We have the big forwards to defend Durant, and are athletic enough to get back on defense to stop Wesbtrook fastbreaks. Westbrook is poor in the half court midrange where our defense is susceptible.
But somehow every game is still close. We get Dame going and stop giving up those mid range jumpers and we'll win the series.

I think the best chance for a Warrior lots would be the Jazz. They'd have a 5% compared to 2%.

I just can't see any universe Utah beats them. Even if they outplayed them for most games as a young team with no closer they'd choke with the pressure in closeout games.

Houston can have Beverly injure Curry as he did to Westbrook. Dwight plays dirty. I'd probably give them the best chance. Dwight had some crazy effective playoff games the last few years and Harden can get hot for a series. Very unlikely but not impossible.

In any universe Houston should never win another series.

True but last year they made the Playoffs in a crappy East. This year they are #4 in a much better East that has caught the West....huge improvement.

Damn Utah could easily snatch the 5th seed. They have the easiest schedule from here on out and their tough games are all at home (SAS, LAC, DAL). Pop and Doc Rivers could decide to sit most of their starters those nights. And Dallas will get creamed.

Meanwhile, we're going to have a hard time @GS, @SAC (their starters will probably play), and vs OKC. Miami will be tough on Saturday as well.

Its not likely at all. We own the tiebreaker, and the only way they could finish ahead of us is if we go 3-3 and they go 7-0. Not likely.

This is very true. Very tough 4 game stretch. We really need to beat Miami.
