<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Randolph intimated Tuesday that if he is not extended at the maximum amount, he will not re-sign with the Blazers after the 2005-06 season.

"It won't affect the way I play this season," Randolph said, "but yeah, it will affect me after the season, and the decisions I make."

Randolph is basing his value in part on the six-year, $86 million extension that was given to Memphis power forward Pau Gasol on Oct. 1. "Gasol got $86 million, and he isn't better than me," Randolph said. "I feel like if I'm going to be the franchise player of this team -- and that's what they say -- then they should show it. If they are going to build around me, then treat me like it."

Randolph also is keeping his eye on the negotiations with Utah forward Andrei Kirilenko -- asking Tuesday, "What did Kirilenko get?" Kirilenko, who was a controversial All-Star selection last season over Randolph, also is seeking the $86 million maximum, but the Jazz has made an offer in the mid-$70 million range. </div>

I see Randolph's point of view, If a 17 and 7 guy can get 86 million..so should a 20 and 11 player. Portland have some problems.

I agree with Zach Randolph, but he really shouldn't have called out Gasol's name like that.

Jermaine O'neal pt 2.

I'd actually have to disagree with you Emo, I think that mentioning Gasol was necessary. Even if he had left his name out and only talked about the money everyone would have known who he was talking about. Besides, it shows his confidence.

Give Randolph a lot of credit saying that the lack of an extension wont affect his play.

Of course It wouldn't effect his play, otherwise he wouldn't get the huge contract he is demanding next summer. If Randolph holds true to these claims then he will be on a mission to have a monster season.

AK47 and Gasol both got 86 million so I don't blame Randolph for demanding the same. He is certainly better than Gasol. Maybe not as good as AK who can do alot more things like block shots, play good team defense and get steals.

I wouldn't give Zach the money he wants,Gasol played 31 mpg last season compared to Zach's 37.9 and Gasol averaged 17 ppg and 7 rpg with those minutes compared to Zach's impressive 20 ppg and 10 rpg.Give him the same minutes as Zach has and Gasol will hvae better stats.
Also Pau wins the battle in assists,blocks,3-point% and fg% and Zach isn't as goos as Andrei Kirilenko.
Today's NBA overpays almost every player so I wouldn't be too surprised to see Atlanta Hawks giving Randolph 90 million contract next season if Blazers let him go wich I doubt.

Well,he is the franchise of the Blazers. So why not he make big time money? You cant say he is not worth it,because he is putting up 20 and 10 and is only going to get better.

i will not give Zach max contract, max contract to me means KG, Duncan, Kobe, cailber player, and Zach are no where close because he is a black hole in offense, rarely pass, most of the time he pass the ball away because he is stuck, then he would wave the hand to ask the ball again. I dont think that scoring 20 points per game or rebound 10 times again makes you the frachchise player that easily. Gasol to me is a better player than Zach, first he can actually doing something at defense, he is close on averaging 2 blocks per game, Zach...it will be a miracle for him to average 1 block per game. AK 47 will soon get a Max contract just like Gasol's, again, i will take Ak 47 over Zach any day if im the GM. AK is a complete package, steal, block, score, pass, rebound, even deflations. Plus even Mo Cheeks said that Zach is a garbge man, clearing up offensive rebounds, and put them up. I rather have Shareef than Zach right now.

!? Pau Gasols defense isnt good at all I dont know wich player youve been lookin at

Zach is not worth 86 million. whats up with these mad money hungry players?

ZR is definitely worth the max, how many guys in the NBA avg 20-10? There are sooooo many players with max contracts, that are 1/2 as good as ZR...There are 2 on the blazers who are max players. reef, damon

There are probrably 5 players worth max contracts over $60 million. In my eyes, Randolph is not worth it.

These are the top 5

KG
Duncan
Shaq
Kobe
Dirk

I think are worth max contracts. There may be a couple others but not many. Unless the player can carry a team into the playoffs, big numbers mean little. So many players get huge contracts, pad their stats, but never make it to the BIG SHOW. Some never even make the playoffs. Is it really worth payin a player that much on a mediocre team? They should be saving their money and aquire more talent. When Zach can take portland deep into the playoffs and show leadership on the court, perhaps he should get a max contract. Under the current circumstances, I just dont think he deserves it.
