I once saw a VW bug with a 426 hemi for an engine. The engine took up so much space in the car that it had no back seat.
I have no idea if the trans is going to be more or less reliable than the older manuals but I would buy the manual version all day long. I believe the Honda CVT is better than say the Nissan garbage but I still wouldn't buy one.@bodyman5000 and 1 what do you think of the honda civic 2020 sport?
Also this might be a dumb question.
These new manual transmissions as reliable as the older transmissions?
I've tried googling that but only could find information on automatic v cvt c manual.

My two biggest gripes with new Hondas are silly for most people. The panel gaps are terrible now and they often make minor suspension rattles as if a brake pad or something was loose.
My wife's 2010 civic was an old turd compared to these new ones. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a new manual civic if I were you.
Just hoping the transmission is as strong as previous cars I've had. Simply because I much prefer down shifting to slow down, rather than riding the breaks.
Manual transmissions last much longer than automatics in almost every case. Less gears and less shifting=less wear and tear. Replace a clutch instead of brakes and entire transmissions. There is nothing wrong with downshifting to decrease speed. If it’s good enough for a loaded down 18-wheeler then it’s got to be good enough for a light car.I honestly do not understand this behavior. The brakes are designed to stop the car and are cheaper to replace pads if needed than fixing an engine / transmission. Unless you drive an old car and love to hear the backfire (My old Alfa makes wonderful noise that way) - the brakes are there for a reason and easy to modulate to slow the car. Per usual, YMMV.
This. I have never replaced a clutch in any car I've owned if it had low miles on it when I got it.I honestly do not understand this behavior. Apples and oranges. 18 wheelers and cars are not even remotely the same.Manual transmissions last much longer than automatics in almost every case. Less gears and less shifting=less wear and tear. I rarely downshift my car unless I want to pass someone. Coming up to a red light? Clutch in, shift to neutral and let clutch out. Every damn time. My gray focus has 200 plus thousand miles on it and had a clunky 2nd gear synchro when I got it. 25 thousand miles later and it is exactly as bad as when I bought it..no worse.
Sorry for not driving up to your standards. I'll try to be a better human and meet the lofty standards you set.![]()
I wouldn't laugh at someone who likes downshifting. The kid who had my car before me autocrossed it and beat the shit out of it. I have been keeping an eye out for a low mile used trans close to me but the getrag in my car isn't common.eh. I drove a 95 integra to 340k+ and never had an issue with the clutch/tranny.
When I sold it the only thing wrong was a blown head gasket(didn't have the time for that job) because I unlike most people you deal with actually take care of my vehicles.
I was just curious if you knew how the new trannys were holding up. I agree with you I wouldn't touch the CVT trannys. I've heard they go out quite often.
Speaking of people who don't take care of their vehicles.
Someone close to me asked me to check the air in their tires. Their air pressure was 12lbs..... Which means they were missing 23lbs of pressure in all four tires.
Come to find out they had a flat tire. Who woulda thunk. This person also hadn't checked their fluid levels in four years. Not smart. I'm sure you deal with this type of car owner all the time. And have many, many worse stories.
Don’t know if these are specifically relevant, but I enjoy this crazy person’s videos. He’s is actually quite knowledgeable, despite possibly being drunk.

Those Honda's are well built vehicles. My wife a couple years back wanted a Mini Cooper Convertible, got her a Nissan Altima instead, it has the CVT too. Been a great car and no problems with CVT.I bought my wife a Civic Sport Touring with every bell and whistle last July. It’s a very nicely built car that handles beautifully and can haul ass when needed. The CVT automatic does take some serious getting used to, especially when going from a complete stop. Overall it’s an extremely nice little car with a lot of cool features. But why any one our age would want one is a conundrum. It’s practically scraping the ground and is a real bitch for an old guy to get in and out of. But my wife doesn’t seem to mind and she’s the one who chose it. And the dog finds it much easier to get in than my SUV. As long as those two ladies are happy.............
Speaking of Auto Tranny's, I used to give my boys ATF to use on their Pinewood Derby cars and they never lost a race, seriously. As it heat ups its gets slippery'er.Manual transmissions last much longer than automatics in almost every case. Less gears and less shifting=less wear and tear.
