Tom, have you been up north of Bishop to watch the Intl. Parachuting, Paragliding, and Wingsuit Competitions, on the East Face of the High Sierra NV...? One fkn unbelievable place to Jump, ie God's true Country for Jumpers the world around.....
 
1 day, 1 jump, and I think I'll take Stampede's advice, and float in circles around Fenway, and piss on 'em all.............
 
It's in North Jersey... Thank god it's not in South Jersey.

No, but sounds cool. My first day to go skydiving, completed the course and was waiting for another big instructor to do AFF. Was taking pictures at the LZ waiting for 2 buddies to land their first jumps, and some yahoo failed to pull in time and made an impression in the parking lot.

Field closed, money refunded, never went back.

I live but a few miles now from Pinon Hills, and often have gathered up Pine Nuts, for various Cuisine Dishes. Very expensive to buy, yet cost nada to harvest....The Pine Cone looking object, should have multiple nuts per Cone....

Thanks... I think it looks different as I thought it looked more like an acorn cap rather than a closed pine cone (which the pic does) Either way cool and good to see you around. Missed you the last few days

Best thrills: jumping into Night drop zones, for Accuracy Tourny's, which are well lit up tho', or into the Pacific a few times, with no permits; as well as a few State and Natl Parks, which weren't USPA certifiable jumps, in other words illegal as all hell.......

Next stop, I hope Wingsuits........

I don't blame you........

It took me an intense 10 years, before I'd let anyone, (and not just anyone) pack, and rig my gear, (when doing numerous jumps in a day)......

I've heard more than my share of horror stories, yet never saw a fatality with canopy Jumping, came damn close in a group jump, when the only girl in our group, could not pull her cord; when a fellow jumper saw her chute not open, he quickly made his way to her, (lucky he hadn't pulled his chute yet either, until he got to her, the only 2 who hadn't deployed); wasn't able to pull her cord either, so he took her down piggybacked, (locked his gear to hers***)..........another buddy jumped out and the turbulence slammed him back into the fuselage, knocked him out cold, yet was an easy recovery for those who still had yet to jump.....(I can do this all day).....

***No doubt a extremely courageous act, as I thought both were going to be fertilizer for Tumbleweeds, chutes opened around 2,000 feet.....

Now Wingsuit competitions, still a blast to watch, the only style of daredevil jumping, I haven't done YET, and have seen 2 casualties, both clipped the very same fkng canyon walls, in a very tight passage approximately a 20 foot pass b/t walls, and down they went, pushing up daisies, sad enough.....

Yep, do you recall (which Bonds movie I forget), where he had a small silver car looked like a bullet, was an actual car, that could and did also fly......?

that's alright, I've never odd enough, been a big James Bond fan, either.....

Here's what the Silver Bullet looks like....once was the smallest jet in the world, not sure if it still holds that record.........plus it has no prob hitting 300mph

Wait... It is now a cosmopolitan empire. Cherrry Hill is actually called "Little LA". Do you live in Jersey? If you don't then your assuming these guys are doing an Arkansas duo. Usually hicks are located in the pines in a place like Ongs Hat. :devilwink:

Rob....I tracked him all the way down to his frantic arm waving and scream. He was a SD sherrif deputy, had been warned for pulling too low on the previous load. He was showing off to his fiance that was standing next to me. She was frantically asking if we saw a red chute....someone quipped they saw a white one start to deploy at 50 feet, its red now. I ran over, part of me to make sure he was dead. 2 guys were there already and had flipped him over. Faceplant left a 2inch crater in the hot blacktop parking lot. He had on a jumpsuit....his broken bones made the sound that reminded me of the sound dice make in a Yahtzee cup when shaken. Oddly, another guy had a cutaway when his main split into 2 pieces. They think one of those pieces may have fouled the guys perception of the ground as he came in right between the shards.

I grew up in NJ... And am very much aware of the Hicks of South Jersey... Lived in Pennsyltucky for just over a decade, but visit home regularly.... And while I know quite a few people from Cherry Hill, I've NEVER HEARD ANYONE call it Little LA... And I've seen more toothless Hicks in South Jersey than in all my visits to Arkansas, Virginia, Florida, Georgia, N. Carolina, S. Carolina, etc., combined....

+> Here's my take.. For awhile,back in the 90's I was an inspector for that Township. I heard Little LA from the people who worked in the municipality and contractors in the field. There was the upper crust East CH and the lower income Western side facing infamous Camden. If you had cash, a car dealership were a Doctor or Attorney, you lived in the glitzy mega mansion side. If you bought a BMW, Mercedes and wore expensive sunglass' you were part of that Little LA club. As far as a person having bad teeth, the family and carreer dictated that image. Dentists were highly populated in East CH.

There's a hell of a lot more in South Jersey than Cherry Hill... And again, never once heard anyone refer to it as Little LA... That screams envy on so many levels... why would anyone want that? I knew people who went to West and didn't call it Little LA... met quite a few who went to East and they hadn't referred to it as Little LA... so that must have just been at your job in which they called it that.

showing off, and Jumping just don't mix well. He should of took up base jumping, if he liked the thrill of a quick and short deploy. Death is never pretty. On the L-1011, a tech was installing a light on top of the Vertical Stabilizer, and failed to attach his safety harness to the Simon Crane. He hit concrete and scattered like a water balloon. Another Contractor was working on top of a 120 Foot hangar, (where the X=B70s. F-82s, B-1Bs, and B2 Mods, were built or modified); he stepped across from the Simon Crane, to the roof, threw a big 3 inch air hose, to the ground, which had wrapped around his ankle, taking him down to concrete, under the watch of his stunned Son, who was still in the crane. On the B-1A, a tech was sitting in the Pilots, seat, (fully loaded with its ejection pyro rockets. He was suppose to be installing Avionics Panels, and accidentally hit the ejection handles, long before locks were mandatory for ejection seats, until Flight. He too, splatterd all over the ceiling of the Hangar..just a name a few......
