Anthony Keidis' (sp) dad lives at the bottom of the hill from me.

I'm not a huge RHCP fan but Californication is one of my favorite albums of all time.

Agreed.. Californication is GREAT from beginning to end.. that album has a TON of emotional value for me as well, as it got the great group back together. And basically was like seeing 2 of the 4 band members' lives being saved.

I'm a pretty big Chili Pepper fan as well.

Glad to hear that there are some other big fans. Ever get to see them Live?

Blackie Dammit lives in Portland? I guess that would explain Kiedis being in Portland and at Blazer games a lot, even ones that arent Laker games.

edit.. after reading his Wiki, they mentioned that he lives there now.. see if you can get me a meeting with the RHCP please HCP, I would absolutely owe you forever, it would make a grown man cry! :D

I've had Marmite but not Vegemite.

once. But their live shows are by far the best. John/Flea/Chad on the improv is ungodly. I respect John so much as a guitar player not because he is the best technical player out there, or the fastest, or even the best, but I think his emotion, his improvisation abilities, and the fact that he would much rather play what sounds better then what is harder makes him among my favorites. He is also very versitile, from Mother's Milk - Stadium (minus OHM) and then his solo albums which are so different its not even funny. My favorite solo albums are definitely his early ones, Niandra LaDes and Usually Just a T-Shirt, Smile from the Streets you Hold, and To record only water for 10 days. He actually got me into guitar, along with some other guitarists, but he was the final straw to where I was like i gotta learn this shit.

Cali was good because it had a little bit of everything in it. It also was the first album they made together again after the split when John went down a deep hole into depression and addiction. But I also have many memories of that CD, specifically with High School girls.

Dude get out of my head!!! I have said those things about John so many times about not being the best, but his emotion and all that... lol. His solo stuff is insanely different, but I love it all. the wife is kinda scared of Niandra and Usually Just a T Shirt lol. His first solo album I heard, was To Record Only Water.. the first song I heard was Murderers, I fell in love instantly. And their improv is so beautiful. They are one of those bands who could still be a great band by just playing their music, and not singing.. but then they also have a kick ass singer too lol. I've been able to see them live 4 times and counting.. I cant WAIT for their new stuff!! I know they deserve the break they have been on, but me as the greedy RHCP whore I am... wants new material!!! I'm glad someone else out there sees them for how wonderful they are, and what they have done for music. Such pure artists man.

repped!

You are a good man.

you as well my friend.

I was down my dreams were wearing thin
When you're lost where do you begin
My heart always seemed to drift from day to day
Looking for the love than never came my way

Then you smiled and I reached out to you
I could tell you were lonely too
One look then it all began for you and me
The moment that we touched I knew that there would be

(chorus)
Two less lonely people in the world
And its gonna be fine
Out of all the people in the world
I just cant believe youre mine
In my life where everything was wrong
Something finally went right
Now theres two less lonely people
In the world tonight

My heart always seemed to drift from day to day
Looking for the love than never came my way

I'm not the only RHCP on the board anymore !?

Sweet :]

was 10 feet from the stage when RHCP played Coachella...it was probably one of the top concert experiences ever. errr..for me at least????

I'm a pretty big Chili Pepper fan as well.
I saw the Uplift Mofo tour at La Luna back w/Hillel. It was completely oversold and overflowing. The whole venue floor was such a violent seething mass, it was impossible not to be knocked down regularly. Flea wore a bondage mask and diaper... :smiley-cheer: fun times

I saw them in Milan on the Blood Sugar tour as well. The Italians were completely out of sorts hosting a big American rock show... they just didn't know how they were supposed to act so everyone was looking over their shoulders checking everyone else out hoping to catch a clue. Maybe halfway through the show I walked/bounced uncontested right up front to a Crosstown Traffic cover where I unwittingly got into the only fistfight I ever won. A guy was attempting to crowdsurf like he'd probably seen in videos. His buddies kept launching him from behind unsuspecting concert goers who'd catch his hip (or whatever) in the back of the head. I'd seen this happening around me and when I saw them lining up just behind, I sidestepped him to avoid a foot in the face... but the guy next to me socked him probably over the idiot factor. Dude pops off the ground and comes after me. I'm like the guy Artest wrongly went after in the Detroit melee... he's hitting me repeatedly and addressing me in some of the few Italian words I know as I'm retreating and shaking off my music fan euphoria. I finally got mad and hit back landing a flush blow that felt like it went through his nose. There was such a bloody mess his two buddies just gathered him up and left without giving me a thought.

Anyhoo, great band... I loved their early stuff with George best of all

Since you're talking Chili Peppers, I stumbled on this video today:

LOL! "Is that Will Farrell?" Everybody says that. And the "No habla Engles" part was funny also.

07 Coachella? Their into was sick. One of the few times i've seen John use the whammy pedal.

Bad quality, but sick intro.

Wow. I remember wishing that I could see them back in the day. Like at Rock Palast in Germany in 85. Their shows were the absolute best back then, man. You are so fucking lucky. Sounds like you had an experience you won't be forgetting any time soon.

LOL. Wow. Great stuff. Was John in the BSSM show? Or was it in later 92 after he left? If you saw a BSSM with Frusciante you are seriously a lucky man. I also would have given anything for that.

Definitely agree. George Clinton and the Peppers made amazing music, and I probably like those albums best. I really loved their early stuff, particularly with Hillel (even though I believe the 1st CD was not with Hillel), but i'm very fond of John as a guitar player. I miss their old stuff, I wish their was a band like the Old Chili Peppers out now.

GOD THAT WAS BEAUTIFUL!!! MY only problem with them playing some of their live stuff recently like towards the Coachella part, was them having Josh Klinghoffer on the stage, I love Josh, and what he has helped with with John's solo stuff, but he isnt a Chili. I would look on the stage and there were 5 dudes up there, and I was like WTF! I just felt like I wasnt watching someone else. The times I have seen the Chili's was the Californication tour (at the Portland show filemed on half of "off the map" I was 15!!! hell yeah!) Then I saw them at the MC and thats when I was only about 10 feet from the stage, dead center by Anthony. I then saw them in Vegas at their 100 year bash thing. Then for the Tour opener for Stadium Arcadium and was only like 20 feet away but was in the seats on Flea's side. Its so crazy how this band never gets old to me.. they have something for pretty much every musical mood possible with their versatility. Oh and I already explained to the wife, that if the Chili's ever have a final tour, like a farewell one, WHEREVER their last show is I dont care, we will be attending, even if it depletes savings, I WILL be there, to bid them adieu. Hopefully that wont be for a long time though.

Oh plus I forgot to mention, how the F is their music and chemistry possible!?!? Their story is nothing short of amazing. And to think they are making all this music, while basically being a joke band starting out, or an accident band. Man you guys are getting me all obsessed again.

I agree. Its crazy how they went from Hillel to John without missing a beat. But those are their 2 guitarists, always will be. Its not the same to me if one of the two isn't on with 'em.

And yeah, I bought and read AKs biography "Scar Tissue", it was an amazing read. I actually learned a lot about Anthony.

BTW, this is probably my favorite live improv they have ever done.

[video=youtube;OYhdkOne8KI]

and then that one jam after the dani california solo in 06. That was gorgeous. Then their shit on Jools Holland, wow. The improvised Dani California solo on that was sooooo amazing, imo. I used to play guitar like 10 hours a day, and I remember going through youtube and finding all the frusciante stuff that he improvised and learning it by ear. Good times. I mainly went after his old stuff from the late 80s - early 90s.

[video=youtube;UD-Mkn0AzAU]

Old shit like that was soo rad. So simple, yet so fun to play and sounds really nice. That was my favorite era of the rhcp and definitely of John's playing. His early days in the band after Hilled OD'd and before John quit.
