Kelly Clarkson > Avril Lavigne
</div>
Yeah right. Avril is still going strong, and writes her own stuff. Kelly Clarkson doesn't write her own stuff (hell Avril wrote one of her hits as seen above), and she lost her voice. She had a voice that was arguably better than Avril's, but that voice is just so weak now.
Avril is a more diverse musician than Clarkson. Clarkson just sings. Avril has musical talent in her blood. She started out as a country musician, then transitioned to pop, then to rock, and back to pop. Her pop has been great (Let Go is one of the best selling albums in the past century), to average (Best Damn Thing, great songs like When You're Gone, but a lot of throw away pop). And her alternative rock album, Under My Skin,w as absolutely amazing. She has tons of B-Sides that are pretty good as well, and has done some pretty good covers (Basketcase, Scientist, Knockin' on Heaven's Doors, Imagine, etc.). Now some of the covers weren't that good (Imagine) and others were great (basketcase, Knock'n on Heavens Doors), but the point there, is that she has the right musical role models to look at. The girl is only 23 years old, she's just a youngin right now. When she comes out with her next album, she'll be 24...probably another album at 27, and then probably one more album before she is 30. The girl has 3 more albums before she even becomes 30, and she already has a great catalog of work, and it'll be fun to see her grow as an artist even further. The thing that makes Avril have the potential to be better is that she isn't a slutty whore like Fergie, Pussycat Dolls, etc. She is a married woman that doesn't mess around, and just lives a real life. She doesn't incorporate, or plan to dance in any of her songs, so they don't get swayed into a dance direction either.
