Hey, MrJ, you gonna watch the Sonics/Knicks game? I'm pumped for this one. NBA basketball in July --- nothing better than that.

Kelvin Torbert ftw.

<div class="quote_poster">NTC Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">It's a mistake.</div>

Sure about that? I was under the impression that he actually played 92 minutes in a 48 minute game.

Oh hell yeah, I've been looking forward to this game.

I want to see how Durant will play, he was disappointing his first game. Let's see how he'll rebound against Balkman.

It would be cool if we did a draft and had a team thing going. We pick like 5 team leaders or something, and they pick their teams through pm (so nobody sees the order and stuff), after, they post the results. So we could have like Team Swish or something, and we could all fued with each other and fight and stuff. In the end, the losing team gets banned from JBB

I'm watching it too. I'm pumped to see Durant play.

Did you guys see that dunk by Louis Williams in the Sixers-Warriors game on NBATV now?

Yeah, and like we get their emails and then spam the **** out of the losers. And the worst member of the losing team gets beat up. Like Team Swish would literally go to your house and woop your ass. You know?

People do read way too much into summer league games though. These are the type of games that players like Bo Outlaw and Greg Ostertag dominate and players like Tim Duncan struggle in.

Durant may have started off slow, but he's nervous, and there's more of a spotlight on him than pretty much any other rookie in recent memory playing in the summer league.

He's still proven as hell though. I haven't seen any freshman dominate the way he did last year, and that's including the likes of Magic, Iverson, and Carmelo.

As for tonight's game, I'm more excited to see Kelvin Torbert, the former High School Player of the Year (from '01?). Knee troubles have really killed his career to this point, because his entire game was based off of his athleticism and explosiveness, so I'm interested in seeing how effective he is three or four years after his surgery.

Anyway, has anyone else noticed how a lot of these foreign players (like Marco Belinelli) speak better English than Kevin Durant?

Word. And the rest of the remaining teams continue to go at, battling and such for another 2 rounds. Then shapecity steps in and says, "we need more soljiers boi." (kind of like Making the Band). The eliminated members are then gathered together to audition for another team. That team is assembled and they return to battle to try to take the spot of the other teams. The other teams get pissed and be like, "ayo! This is our house! This is our bed!" (sort of like Making the Band). Then the drama continues until the very end, the winners are crowned. Bad. Boy.

<div class="quote_poster">Voodoo Child Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Why don't you just do sit-ups? Does the machine work your stomach muscles any differently?

Most of my exercise at the moment is aerobic. I used to be on the weighlifting and football teams in high school, so I've already got a lot of muscle mass. I also broke my nose about a month ago, so it's not recommended I get under weights yet. Right now I'm just working on improving my overall speed and quickness, especially my lateral quickness. I was able to keep up defensively with kids from the county and private school leagues in high school, but everytime we played the teams from the hood, where kids had quicker first steps, I would get burned time and time again on defense. That's always been my biggest weakness, so that's my biggest focus point at the moment.

I agree completely with you guys though. Working out just makes you feel better. I've gotten in ruts where I don't have practice for a week, and I'll just hang out all week watching tv, smoking, and playing guitar, and during those stretches, I not only get out of shape, but I start to feel a lot more lethargic and tired. Working out just revitalizes you.</div>

See, im kind of complete opposite with what you are doing. I have loads of speed and I'am really quick of my feet. Im just trying to build alot of muscle and add some strong weight. I basically do alot of weight lifting with breaks of the Bicycle or the Treadmill, or some type of cardio. Mines for the basketball team, I need to get a little stronger. We don't need anymore fast guards, some strong off the dribble or to the basket guards are what we need. The Abdominal Cruch thing has alot of focus on your abbs. You can set a a diffrent weight. In about the 10th rep, you feel it like hell. It has a alot of focus on it. Sit-Ups to me is way to easy, I have to do so many to get some pain.

I'll be watching Sonics/Knicks too. Durant and Co. vs. my soul mate Nate Robinson and Co. Should be good.

... except I don't see the Watch button.

I wish freestyle battles were still allowed on JBB. Those regional freestyle battles woulda been cool. And I miss Umairs lines LMFAO.

<div class="quote_poster">The Legend Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">What kind of modified crunches do you do?

I do this machine at the gym, its called the Abdominal Crusher, it does feel as if your abs are crushed after, it hurts like hell.</div>

I don't use machines unless I'm trying to work on my chest. The modified crunches I do are where you lift your knees up as you do the crunch and let your elbows touch them. Either that or you can do right elbow to left knee and left elbow to right knee, etc. There are dozens of ways you can make a crunch work you harder and in such make you sweat and burn more fat and work the muscles more. I like the combination of five fast elbows to knees crunches then five fast full push ups. Repeat that about 20 times and you're good to go!

If you want massive calves the only real secret are stair exercises, carrying a lot of weight around every day and/or riding a bike for a long period of time.

Now theres a link to watch the game and it plays the NO/MIN game. Sigh.

They have them mixed up. Stupid NBA.com

Durant is looking real lazy out there. Balkman is really working.

If you have NBA TV, it's being played there at the moment.

As for working out, I'm not slow or anything. I'm just not tall enough to play in the post in college, so I'm going to try to become more of a wing next season, and it's a huge adjustment.

I'm doing a lot of jumping exercises, a lot of stairsteps, like M Two One was talking about. The coach has me jumping rope before practice every day too.

The real bitch are the drills I go through to improve my lateral quickness. I've been tripped up a few times on them already. It's definitely starting to pay off though. Today I noticed I was able to beat a lot of younger, usually quicker players off the dribble.

If summer league meant anything John Salmons and Louis Williams would be all stars.

its the summer...I don't think it would be out of the question to get on AIM create and chat and get at some keystyles...even though they do seem kinda corny to me now I do them for fun..lol

<div class="quote_poster">Shard Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">My boy Tre Simmons is stuggling out there.</div>
So is your boy Durant.

Your boy Nate's doing good though.

Durant hasn't logged much playing time since I began watching.

Torbert looks good out there. He's playing really cerebrally, setting up his teammates and not really forcing things like a lot of the players out there are. He looks like he's added about 20 pounds of muscle since he graduated from Michigan State too.

Adeleke is a dominant rebounder, but the guy's got no hands. He's actually looking rawer offensively than Sene (which is saying something, because Sene just bricked a hookshot off the side of the backboard). Basically, if you throw the ball to Adeleke down in the post, it's a guaranteed brick or turnover.

<div class="quote_poster">Voodoo Child:</div><div class="quote_post">a lot of stairsteps, like M Two One was talking about.</div>

Not exactly stairsteps that you learn from pros, I had my own painful way of going about those exercises. I don't recommend them, though they work fast and you will earn an extremely high tolerance of pain in the process.

Yea man, you did. I'd seen him a few times before but I didn't know he had such a complete offensive game. I love following European players.

EDIT: A Nate Funk sighting! I was a fan of his in college. Hope he finds a spot.
