The 90's were the best. Music, cartoons, everything

<{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Damn, Brian! I didn't even think of RHCP when you mentioned bands like Maroon 5 and Goo Goo Dolls, but I guess I didn't consider you hadn't really listened to any rock music.
RHCP's great though because they've got so many different styles. Their early stuff is like a fusion of funk and punk rock, their late 80's/early 90's stuff is a little more straightforward rock but still with a heavy funk influence and a hint of jazz, and their new era stuff is melodic, minimalistic, and in my opinion, their best yet (except for their latest album, which I'm not
that big on).
GMJigga, glad to hear you're getting into new music as well. Rap, rock, etc. - music is music, and once you realize rap's not the mainstream 50 cent you see on tv, and rock's not the lame emo music you hear on the radio or the headbanging rip-your-head off metal some people think it is, then it opens a whole new world for ya.
As for rap, it's got it's roots in soul, funk, etc. There's the
Isley Brothers,
Curtis Mayfield,
Parliament Funkadelic, or my favorite,
the funk-inspired RHCP era (video's lame but music's good).
You know though, the thing is, I don't know what your tastes are. I'm not the best at rec'ing music always. It's my life and passion almost as much as basketball, and I know a lot about it, all types, but I always seem to be real hit-or-miss with rec's.
Do either of you have AIM btw? I've talked to you for a while on JBB and Jigga on s2 and have never talked to either of ya on AIM.</div>
Haha. It's cool. I was just listening through their Greatest Hits album last night, and I'm kind of surprised. I've heard like a pretty good portion of their songs before, like probably 7 or 8, I just never knew it was the RHCP. They're a really good band though, I'm gonna try checking out some more of their stuff in the future. I think so far, from what I've listened too, Californication is probably one of my favorite songs by the band. It might subject to change though, I'm just guessing I like it because I live in California. Also, Flea is a HUGE Laker fan!
Oh, and btw, no AIM for me, unfortunately. I have it installed on my computer but it never works for me. Everytime I try logging on my computer just gets screwed
