Re: Random Thought Thread (NSFW)

The hardest part about it is waking up and driving, knowing that its a Saturday.

Re: Random Thought Thread (NSFW)

It's going to be impossible sitting through a 3 hour philosophy course each Saturday. Good luck.

Believe me. I know. I took a philosophy course last year in HS and had trouble staying wake even though the class was only 40 minutes.

I sit through a 3hr Business Administration class every Saturday...it sucks...with an asshole of a teacher...

This professor is supposed to be really good, so I guess that helps . . . a little.

The placement of my business courses throughout the week is really screwing me with regard to what else I can take. So far I have intro to environmental in addition to macroecon and stats for business. I need to two more classes.

Re: Random Thought Thread (NSFW)

I have no courses before 9 (11 on Tuesday/Thursday) and no classes after 3:15 (which is only on Tuesday/Thursday).

Re: Random Thought Thread (NSFW)

for my last undergrad term I only have 6 hours of class every Tuesday and Thursday

Well what I did was...

Summer before Freshman year, I took two Econ classes (Micro and Macro for Lower Division) and 2 General Ed classes. Then during both Freshman semesters I went to both my university and a community college by my house. That way I only took my majors courses (ALL of my lower division) at my primary university, and only my General Ed classes at the community college....I was taking double my classes, but I'm done with all the classes that have nothing to do with business, so now every class I take, everyday in school, it's strictly business...now I take less classes with a stronger business emphasis.

That's kind of similar to what I'm doing/going to do. My whole plan rides on the assumption that I get into the Rutgers Business School. The only way to get into the RU Business School is to go through the RU School of Arts and Sciences, which is where I'm currently enrolled. While in the School of Arts and Sciences, you must fulfill their graduation requirements (ie: minimum of two humanities, one natural science, one social science, one interdisciplinary etc). At the same time, you need to fulfill the entrance requirements for the RU Business School, which are rather straightforward; if you meet the requirements, you're in and if you fail to meet the requirements, then that sucks for you:

1) Maintain an overall 3.33 GPA.
2) Get a C or higher in: Intro to Microeconomics, Intro to Macroeconimcs, Intro to Financial Accounting, Intro to Stats for Business, Calc I, and a business computer course that I can't recall off the top of my head.

I currently have my Calc I credits from my AP exam last year, and I'm doing the Micro this semester. As I've indicated, I'm doing the Macro and Stats next semester. I can't do the Financial Accounting until my sophomore year. And I haven't checked the computer course, but I plan on doing it with the Financial Accounting course.

Once I fulfill those requirements, I can enroll in the Business School after my sophomore year. Once I'm in the Business School, it's solely business courses that I will be taking. So, basically, my last two years at Rutgers will be business requirements.

The big thing I've been focusing on is the 3.33 GPA. I can get that fairly easily, but I don't want to take any chances. Because if I fail to maintain that mark, I cannot get into the Business School and I'll be screwed (meaning I'll have to wait a whole extra year to apply). Because of this, I'm trying to take fairly easy requirement courses now (like the Environmental course), where I know I should do well. I also want to take some courses over the summer to get some of the requirements out of the way.

I also need to maintain an overall B average in order to keep my scholarship, which is something I didn't even think about until 2 weeks ago. This Calc II class I'm taking now is really killing me.

We call that computer course ISDS down here (Information Systems and Decision Sciences), in my calss it was strictly Microsoft Excel and Access with a side tangent on technology as a whole (concerning computers). Financial Accounting is something you have to watch out for, if you don't have the Accounting mind, then it can be confusing and difficult. At CSUF, even though it's only a Cal State, our business curriculum is top notch. Our pass rate on the first try for Financial Accounting is 66%, meaning a third of the people you see in your class will retake it, and a third of THOSE kids, will retake it for a 3rd try. So be careful.

Yea, one of the RU Business reps mentioned this when I was debating whether to go to Rutgers or Michigan. Rutgers is one of the best schools in the country in preparing its students for the CPA exam. Tough stuff.

I don't plan on becoming an accountant though.

Yeah, accounting is just good to know in general even if you aren't an accounting major. But other than that, it was unnecessarily hard for me. I mean I figure they should make the lower division accounting a tad easier considering not everyone is taking that class to go take the damn CPA exam.

Re: Random Thought Thread (NSFW)

I'm majoring in accounting and I can tell you, the higher accounting classes you take, the harder it gets. Shit is unbelievably hard. Most of the time I'm just skating by.

Yea, I've heard some stories of how hard some of the courses are. I think the only other accounting course I'll need to take is Intermediate Accounting I (and I think that might even be an elective for finance guys like myself).

Saving Private Ryan is on. I love this movie.

For any bbw members out there, they should vote for your boy tim for rookie poster of the year! You don't need to post or anything, just vote and then go back to your business at S2!

Anyone watch 50 cents new show on MTV? Money and Power or something like that? It seems pretty tight

lol, that's like my entire undergrad degree.

4th year philosophy courses get way more intensive and deeper. You know its more comprehensive when you're picking up a little ancient Greek.

Re: Random Thought Thread (NSFW)

Anybody see the 60 Minutes segment on E-waste tonight? Thinking about that town in China and the people who live there, the kids in particular, makes me very sad. And if the CEO of Executive Recycling really didn't know that their CRTs are going to Hong Kong, why didn't he instantly say "That's Horrible! I'll put a stop to that immediately!" Money of course. I hate how the entire world revolves around money.

Why is it when I don't study I do better on tests than when I do study?

Re: Random Thought Thread (NSFW)

Right, Got a Pasty from the greatest Patisserie in the world, got a big class of OJ listening to Aerosmith. Now i have to write up 1000 notes for my History essay.

*sigh*
