Re: Random Thought Thread

Sad. I don't think I'll be that active anymore either. I'll probably still post in the Laker forum though, I'm just having a hard time getting used to this. All the Sixer guys seem to be gone. I haven't really seen Smitty on much, AF hasn't really been posting much, and Blur just disappeared

Re: Random Thought Thread

Brain, c'mon man. It is just not basketball season. Just wait, people will come. We need a guy like you to be here. Help get guys to post. I mean, the admins and mods are doing what they can, but leaving doesn't help us. You where a guy when I came to JBB I thought was the type of poster I wanted to be. Active, you knew the game and you where a familiar face. We need you here to help and stay active. Don't leave bro.

Re: Random Thought Thread

Come on guys, stay here. I understand change is always difficult, but just give it time. I'm sure things will turn out fine, we'll end up with more quality posters than ever, and people are working on the site, trying to make it better and better each day.

Thanks for the compliments Master Shake (although you spelled my name wrong, lol). I'm not leaving the site anytime soon, I just said I won't be as active as I was on JBB. I'll still post here, and when the season starts, you'll definetely find me in the Lakers forum and Sixers forum (assuming Sixer fans come back), because this is the only place I'll go talk basketball. I'm not going to leave and go to a different forum, that's too much of a hassle, and I'mnot just going to quit forums altogether, because it's a hobby of mine. So I'm not leaving by any means, I just probably won't be as active as I used to be. The only way I'm leaving is if I quit loving basketball altogether, which I don't find to be possible

Re: Random Thought Thread

You guys know I'll be here. But I just miss the old times and it seems we've lost some of our posters that were active in offseason. But yeah, all we can do is get used to this site..

Re: Random Thought Thread

This site just isn't as fun without the regular JBB members that left, and I don't blame them for leaving. Call it homerism or whatever, but this site just can't compare to what JBB was. This is like realgm...really cool, but too big.

It's too bad we lost Blur instead of Umair

Re: Random Thought Thread

I hope you guys stick around. Us BBF guys love a tight-knit community and I can surely say that I don't try to limit my activity to the Nets or Cowboys boards. Change is always tough to deal with; theres a confidence you have by knowing where everything is and how to navigate through the site. It'll come back. We all had to get used to the board.

The site was really promising before the JBB merger, and I'd be damned if anyone on S2 pre-JBB hasn't seen you guys as a huge asset to the board. Almost instantly we've joined together into a bigger community without hiccups. Hell, I even wear pants from time to time when you guys are in the Nets board

I wasn't sure the type of crowd we would be getting when you guys were about to come over, but its easy to see that the Admins really did us all a huge service by incorporating like-minded people. I mean even our 'what our you listening to' threads are filled with the same songs :-)

I've become quite a fan of ya'll, and hope we stick around so that our board continues to be just as good as want it to.

And now for my random thought: is there anybody on this earth who exemplifies "douchebaggery" more than Chris Collinsworth? I can't think of one.

Great question.

The first thing that popped into my mind was "Joe Buck", and that is the definitive answer.

Re: Random Thought Thread

I think the only difference is that this board is so huge, and it covers every single team in a lot of leagues, it's just too huge. To be honest, I havent visited the other forums because the RTT is where I used to love posting.I might post in the sports sections when the season starts, but I'm not really sure about that either. The merger is great because it takes pressure off Shhape, Voodoo, Mel, etc, but it's kind of sad that JBB is just...gone. I joined when I was 14, and the closeness of the community there is lost...it's like being in a small family and then meeting 500 other people in a moment; eventually the close family is dispersed within the large amount of members in the new environment, and distance and lack of communication starts to take place. I feel it's the same way here. I have no problems with the merger, but the JBB community was quite close, especially the OT guys. Everyone that used to post in the RTT knew each other; we had our own inside jokes and what not (NTC's "singlet", Umair's pornstache, Brian's kool-aid)...and I don't know the merger just feels huge. I apologize to all the S2 and BBW guys; it's nothing against you guys, it's just something that takes a while to get used to. This site is frickin huge,

Re: Random Thought Thread

I just hate this forum, like the forum program itself, it is still really confusing to use, and s***'s me to tears trying to make posts. vBulletin was way better, layout wise and ease of use. I feel like I'm posting in a guestbook or somthing.

Re: Random Thought Thread

Yeah I prolly won't be that active either, I'll prolly post in the Sixers/Eagles/off topic every once in a while but that's it.

Quality > Quantity.

Re: Random Thought Thread

To the JBB family.

Speaking for myself. I did struggle with the idea of merging the site, because I knew it would initially be a step back and a major adjustment to what JBB had. When the merger first took place I was also overwhelmed with the size and navigation at S2. I spent my first two days just clicking around to see the quickest ways to get around the site and discover what else the site had to offer.

Also seeing a bunch of screen names I didn't recognize and reading inside jokes I didn't get was tough to cope with. The Nets forum especially LOL.

I know a lot of you felt JBB was a special place, but there were a lot of issues you weren't aware of behind the scenes which was a major reason we decided to merge. The activity level was beginning to peak, and it was getting frustrating for us to further expand the site and draw in more users. Mel and the designers made vBulletin look great for what was available, but the software is very hard to work with and demoralizing when you get something to work and then an update to firefox or IE happens and all the work you did doesn't comply with the new browsers.

Something I want you guys to understand is we merged for the benefit of the JBB members. Change is hard and maybe not for everyone, but you also have to give it a chance and be open minded about it. Mel, Hunter, Voodoo, and myself along with the majority of the staff are here to recreate a better version of JBB and take it to the level we always wanted it to be, which was a recognized media outlet for basketball.

I know the current layout needs a lot of work, and there is intense programming being done to achieve that goal. We're also working to improve the layout and add improve on the eye-candy of the site. These changes do take time and it's a process and I know it's tough to ask for someone to be patient when they don't really like something, but this site is built around a community driven concept.

WE all want the same thing, which is a place to come and talk sports, joke around with friends and enjoy the overall experience.

Maybe some members haven't signed up yet and are still trying to find a comfort zone, maybe some left because they don't want to give the merger a fair chance, but I've also noticed a lot of old members who used to post on JBB have made there way back. I was really estatic to see StarMan come back to post. He was one of the original staff members on the site and VERY knowledgable fan of basketball.

There's a lot of talent here and I've seen and been a part of a lot of quality discussion. Maybe there are some discussions that aren't so great, but there was also a lot of that at JBB as well. It's what you want to look for that you will find. If you want to focus on bad posts, then you're going to find them anywhere you go. If you want to focus on the great posts and debates you'll find those here to. And the more people who participate in those debates and posts, the further down the crap will be sent and will eventually be archived away and buried behind all the quality.

I apologize if anyone is disappointed in the merger, but just give us a fair chance to make it a place you can make your "home" again. PM me talk to me on AIM,, email your ideas and criticism to me. I'm all ears, because I do take all your opinions and ideas into consideration. If you just want to vent that's fine too.

Just wanted to chime in because I felt bad about reading some of the recent posts in here. I want you guys to know I'm putting my all into this project and I want you guys to be the ultimate beneficiaries of it.

Re: Random Thought Thread

shapecity, can you change the Bucks forum to green as the main color? Being from the area, it just seems so wrong for it to be red, even though thats one of the teams colors now (Green/Purple seems more right to me), do they even have Red jerseys? Green seems more right for the Bucks for me.

I have no clue how to navigate to the Moderator forum and I'm not seeing a search feature. Where has Voodoo been? Did he get locked up?

1. Mod CP is at the very bottom of the page.

2. Voodoo just moved to college at Tulane and has been busy with making their basketball team.

He just posted today in the OT forum on an update of his status.

Search feature is available yet, but you can find your own posts and threads by clicking on your user profile page and selecting Portal from the drop down menu.

Re: Random Thought Thread

We badly need a search feature. Like ASAP. Even the most basic of forums have that feature.

Re: Random Thought Thread

Looking at search right now, as a matter of fact.
