The team needs to be rebuilt again. How many chances does Sather get? Enough is enough.
I've been saying that for the past 4 years or so, so I agree 100000%.

Bottom line is NO SHOT it happens though. He will be making the moves this summer. This will be the last shot we have to rebuild the team with Hank in his prime I think, so it sucks Sather will be the one doing it, but that's the way it will be.

I bet he retires after next season. He will not pass up the chance to remake this team one more time this summer. He'll F it up most likely. And then he'll retire after next season. Sad but true.

AV is not going anywhere. Torts got 300+ games to prove he could do it in NY, so i don't see AV being gone after 40+. Just wouldn't be fair.

Can't speak for the Knicks b/c i don't follow them one bit, but you cannot be serious about the Rangers stinking year after year.

'12-13 = 8gms over .500 - Playoffs
'11-12 = 27gms over .500 - Playoffs
'10-11 = 11gms over .500 - Playoffs
'09-10 = 5gms over .500 - No Playoffs
'08-09 = 13gms over .500 - Playoffs

That's not a team that stinks.
As usual you and I have a difference of opinion of what stinks and what is bad, and what is actually good.

Outside of one season, a season in which Sather TOTALLY dropped the ball and did nothing at the trade DL, we have done NOTHING under Sather...NOTHING. And even that one season we won two rounds in 7 games, and lost as the fav in the ECF.

Other than that we have a bunch of 1st round exits. A few no playoffs. A few 2nd round L's. A whole bunch of nothing.

You think simply making the playoffs in a sport where HALF THE LEAGUE makes the playoffs is considered good. I do not. Sather has been terrible here. That is all there is to it.

You want to use the word bad instead of stink...go right ahead. The bottom line is one ECF trip in 15 is bad, stinks, terrible. Whatever word you want to use 31. Don't give me we haven't been bad because we made the playoffs in a league where 1/2 the teams make the playoffs dude.

One ECF with the last being in 1997. Otherwise out early and often without a fight.

I don't think av is going anywhere either guys but would like to see a little emotion from him out there. And by the way connor allen just called up to replace the injured strahlman for sundays game.

EXACTLY. But somehow 15 years of that means we haven't been bad? Come on now. Sather has a track record of CRAP here. Just the way it is. I honestly don't see how it can be debated.

15 years and one ECF trip...that is good? Come on...that is a joke. We made the playoffs a lot, awesome. 16 teams out of 30 make the playoffs. Should we be excited because we made the playoffs more often than not and did nothing. Come on dude.

He used the fact he has HL to make it easier on him doing more work on the roster. Basically. Now its alot of um..fecal natter dipped in(gags) urine.

They haven't been able to win the Cup b/c the teams have been flawed, but staying we stink every year when in the past 5yrs we've been 64gms over .500 is simply inaccurate.

Having been in the playoffs basically every year we should have achieved more than we did and its a shame we wasted that 5yr window b/c Sather stood pat most of the time. But again, this team does not stink year after year.

I'll tell you something else, we have a lot of questions on D as well. Stralman is a 3rd pair guy. Will Moore ever be more than a 3rd pair guy. Staal, Girardi, MDZ, what happens with those 3. Where is the big, physical, crease clearing dman we need badly.

A lot of questions on D. I think at 2 of the 6 we have now are gone next season. Girardi, Staal, MDZ, Stralman. I think 2 will be gone. We'll see.

And what happens when you take out the one year 31? And have we ever had home ice in a playoff series under Sather outside of that one year? I think no, but at most once or twice.

So spare me please. Sports like hockey and basketball...WHEN HALF THE TEAMS IN THE LEAGUE MAKE THE PLAYOFFS...are post season sports. When we have year after year of nothing crap, we have been bad under Sather. That is all there is to it. Use whatever word you want. Bad, stinks, terrible, subpar. Whatever word you want to use, use it. Bottom line is a whole lot of nothing for 15 years outside of one great regular season, and one ECF trip.

Outside of that we have a lot of battles for 6, 7, 8. Barely slip in. Win a round here and there. Barely miss out. Same shit year after year. And that's reality 31.

Sorry guys, we have been solid the past 15 years. We made the playoffs as the 7 or 8 seed a lot. We have gone no where. We never have home ice. We never win more than one round. More than half the league makes the playoffs every season. But we have been solid because we make it in more often than not.

Funny stuff.

That ECF appearance was like a huge bottle of cold water after a twenty mile walk through the desert.

Have we been the worst team in the NHL...nope. But we are also the New York Rangers. We had a HUGE edge prior to the cap coming in. We still spend right up to the cap now, something not every team does. We also have the NY draw. MSG to play in. On and on we have advantages, yet we do nothing every season.

So if the way to judge it is we haven't been the the Oilers getting the # 1 pick every season, then okay we don't stink.

But if you look at things from the correct POV. The POV of us having advantages. Us doing nothing in the playoffs. Over 1/2 the league makes the playoffs. Outside of one season no home ice. No top seeds. No 3rd rounds. On and on.

When you look at it from the correct POV there is no way you can say this organization has been anything but bad for Sather's time here.

Even that squad didnt have more than 1st round talent, yet people got fooled into thinking the SC wasnt far off.

I think we had some decent talent on that team that was built for how Torts wanted to play, but I do agree the team as a whole was better than the individual parts on it. And when it came playoff time, where it really matters in the winter sports, we were 10-10. Won two long 7 game series against the 7 and 8 seeds. Then lost to the 6 seed as a fav after we had a 2-1 lead.

Very good season, but a downer at the end. Is what it is.

why would i take out 1 year? Did it not occur? what happens then if we take out the year we didn't make the playoffs? How does that make us look?

You crack me up, Chuck. Remember all those posts i spent arguing with you b/c i looked at the past 10 or so SC winners and realized most of the time it's the top seeds that win? i argued incessantly that we needed to go after another big gun to get us a top spot, and you argued incessantly that we just needed a 20gl scorer b/c all you need is to get in and cited the Kings winning Cup as the 8th seed. So now you're telling me being a bottom seed does matter? b/c you're saying we stink year after year.

They said Conor Allen was called up i guess for Stralman

I was shocked they beat Ottawa, much less the Caps afterward.

The fact that I have to explain this cracks me up.

That is the one good season we had under Sather. That's it. The numbers of X amount of games over .500 are WAY skewed because of that one excellent season, which everyone of us acknowledges as such. But that's it. The rest of the seasons are left with no home ice and battling to barely slip into the playoffs IN A LEAGUE WHERE MORE THAN HALF THE TEAMS MAKE THE PLAYOFFS EVERY SEASON.

As for your other point, yeah just get in. I still believe that. But when you do NOTHING when you get in that counts. So yeah I was happy we got in at 7 or 8 all those years, but when we lose 1st round or maybe win one round, that is a BAD season 31. That is where we disagree.

I know this is difficult for you, but we will agree to disagree on this one. And I think most Ranger fans feel as I do. Getting in as a low seed and then doing nothing, does not equal anything. It means you are a bad team when year after year you are a 7 or 8 seed. And done 1st or 2nd round.

We agree to disagree buddy.

I thought we'd win both of those series in 5 games going in, so it shows what I know...:). But going 7 games in each of those series no doubt hurt us against NJ.

What can you do I guess.

Really wow, i thought even as an 8 seed Ottawa was the better team and would win in 7.

I agree 100%. We went 10-10 in that playoffs and it was a struggle til the end. It gave us a false sense that we were almost there and that we just needed minor tweaks and we'd reach our goal of a SC win.

For years i implored Sather to make a "go for it" trade and it never came.

Yeah, I was way off sc. I thought we would win those series in a much easier fashion. I guess I overrated us going into those series, even with the epic fail by Sather at the trade DL.

Wonder if we ever get that close again under Sather/with Hank.

10:11PM: Stralman says that he feels “okay” but is unsure he will be able to play on Sunday. His injury is still undisclosed. (Steve Zipay)

10PM: The Rangers team doctors don’t believe that the injury to Stralman is serious but things will be reevaluated tomorrow. (Rangers)

Have to love Jimmy boy...LOL.

Oh well, onto to TB. Let's hope Hank plays well. Last time we where there we got smoked early. I would love to see back to back wins in Florida to end 2013. That would be nice.

the funny thing is Pittsburgh has more injuries than NYR but is still pulling wins out of their ass.
