Did you guys complain when Lafreniere played 7:53 a few games back under Knoblauch, or 11:50 the game after that? Did you complain when Gauthier played 7:04 under Knoblauch? Did you complain when Chytil played 9:57 or 11:33 under Knoblauch? The answer to all those questions is no, because you guys following your grand leader have a pre-determined narrative, and just want to whine and cry and blame Quinn for everything, and at the same time kill this board. Keep going back and forth in your echo chamber.

Panze, I think he was just out on a shift in the last half of the game because Quinn thought it was over at 5-2 and he was in the right position for the rebound. I wonder how many number one overall picks never get to play on the Pp except when there’s 30 seconds left. The season is over, they are not catching Boston and Pitt and the kids should play good minutes the rest of this shortened season. I will be interested to see what happens when kravtsov eventually gets in there.
I like you mel, but this post right here shows just how much of a joke you have become following your grand leader. It really touches all the bases.

First, of course there has to be a reason to not give Quinn credit when something good happens, so he thought the game was over, that's why Lafreniere was out there.

Second, the team made a push and showed fight coming back, but no credit, because everyone thought the game was over, so doesn't count.

Third, saying the season is over shows you really don't get at all where this team is at. This was never going to be a playoff team this season. They were never predicted to be a playoff team, they never were in position to be a playoff team. So saying the season is over when they are not going to be a playoff team is saying you might as well have sat the whole season out. This season has always been about getting experience for the kids, helping their games grow, and setting us up to take the next step into winning next season.

As a real Rangers fan I couldn't be more excited to watch the remainder of the season and see the kids grow, see Kravtsov here, and see more kids here after the trade DL. In the meantime, the 3 of you guys will whine and cry about everything non-stop. Yes, you are a true Rangers fan alright.

Quinn isn't getting fired right now. It's a waste of time to keep repeating the same tired nonsense.
You are missing the point Mess, these guys and their grand leader just want to kill the board and whine and cry non-stop about the coach. The only thing different from today versus the past 6 games was the board reaction. Once again VERY predictable as I wrote yesterday.

This sums it up - not much else to say:

And interesting it was to see Kris Knoblauch double down and go Full Quinn from behind the bench by sitting kids and heaping time on the big guns down the stretch of Saturday’s victory in Washington.

Of course, when David Quinn, the head guy who is expected to be in COVID protocol through at least Friday, pulls a stunt like that, he should be dismissed immediately. But when the acting guy, Knoblauch, does it, that proves that he has the pulse of the team and should be hired to replace the other one forthwith.
This post sums up this thread perfectly, and shows crystal clear that Brooks was spot on when he wrote this.

Quinn will get next season to see if he gets them into, or very, very close to the playoffs. If they have a subpar year and miss the cut i think that's when you'd see a change. JD and JG aren't going to be rash about it in a shortened season, when they weren't expected to make it anyway.

I really hope we don’t have to see Quinn in another season for gorton and jd to make the obvious change. And note to Chuck this is MY OWN OPINION. Dump or anyone else is not my leader which is one of the dumber things you’ve said on the board. Everyone has their own opinions. And while I didn’t see us as a playoff team in this division it doesn’t mean we can’t be. We trail the flyers by 2 points and they look like shit. The bruins who I expected to be a lot better just aren’t for whatever reason losing to the devils again tonight for the 4th time in 5 games against them. We handed them a couple of games outselves. Our coach constant scrambling of the lines and his reliance for whatever reason on guys like howden who doesn’t have an ounce of ability while constantly sitting or not playing a kid like gautier who has size and speed and makes things happen drives me crazy. I’m dreading watching how he is going to handle kravtsov when he finally is allowed to play. And I don’t really care if we have 8 people on the board as you keep mentioning or 800. One has nothing to do with the other. I’m on other boards besides this one and I can tell you there is not a lot of love for Quinn on any of them. Friends of mine who are islanders friends constantly tell me about the talent that Is on the team and surprised we’re not doing better than we are. This team should be playing and doing a lot better than it is being the youngest team or not. This team has a lot of talent and this coach that you love for whatever reason is not getting the most out of it.

.500 or maybe slightly better is what was expected from a team with the avg age they do and a defensive corps that is in the bottom half of the league, despite having Fox. Not to mention Shest hadn't played more than 20g. On top of that having to finish top 4 in this division. Next year to me is when the playoff expectations start needing to be met.

13 of the Rangers 15 losses have been by one goal in a tough division yet they're 3 points out of a playoff spot with 22 games left - yep, it's over. Still contending despite a significant lack of contribution from vets to start the season, having 2 rookies thrust into full time defensive starting positions and losing Hank's replacement for a third of the season thus far. Statistically Mika, Strome and CK should have a prolific scoring burst to approach their seasonal norms these last 22 games. Whether Laf and Kakko flourish or not is entirely up to them.

Buch is having a breakout year, Fox is morphing into Brian Leetch, Gorton stole Lindgren from Boston, the usual 3 stooges 4th line can now actually score and thePK is top 5. So much more positive than negative going on with this team so the fire Quinn Karens have to resort to Debbie/Fishstick 81 years taunting bs - good fans.

Just to clarify pp, they're 5 out of spot behind a Boston team with 3g in hand. It would take a minor miracle with 22g left.

They play Boston end of season. I get it 71, you're out. No worries, maybe next year. I'll just wait until it's official since there are no accolades for being first Rangers fan to predict they aren't going to make the playoffs beyond this board.

I'm just being realistic, not stating that i don't want them to make it, but this short season isn't really about that imo. More about getting the young guys experience and developing some continuity going into hopefully a 'normal' year in the fall.

The playoffs are done. Being 5 points behind, AND the Bruins have 3 games in hand, AND they have 1 more game against Buffalo than we do, AND we are also behind Philly (who we need to pass on the way to catching the Bruins for 4th). As 71 said, it is not just an opinion, the %'s are overwhelming we don't get in. Yes anything can happen of course, but it is VERY unlikely based simply on math. Either way, go win a lot of games, like almost all of them, and we'll go from there.

As for next year, I don't think it is getting very close 71, I think it is getting off to a solid start, and being in playoff position otherwise Quinn gets fired in season IMO. It has to happen next season or he will not make it through I believe.

He'll get a shot into next season for sure I think, unless they totally collapse down the stretch, but if they are not playing well into Nov/Dec he will get canned IMO. And rightfully so if that is the case. Has to be about wins/points/playoffs next season.

Lafreniere playing 8 minutes is a clear cut sign of a coach scared for his job and no longer committed to developing our best, young players. That and Zibanejad clearly doesn't like him. Add in a few other things and you have a coach that will be fired soon. Way before the end of the season IMO.

You look at the desperation by pathetic Quinn yesterday. Playing all his top vet forwards over 20 minutes. A sad display of desperation by a coach who knows he's going to be fired.

I don't think that is fair to Knoblauch, yes he only played Lafreniere 7:53 in a game last week, but I don't think that's because he is scared of losing his job. I also seriously doubt Knoblauch gets fired by the end of the season. I would expect he'll be back in the AHL if he doesn't stay as an assistant with the big club. So as usual, I disagree with you.

Or it could have been a coach who saw his top players playing well, and knew it was a huge 2 points for us, and said yes I'll play my top guys an extra minute or two each in this game to try and win it. I know that's crazy, but it could have been that.

With you fools the guy is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. Playing to win, oh you have to play the kids. Playing the kids, of they lost and quit on him. He cannot win, but that's what happens when you have a pre-determined narrative and try and reverse squeeze the facts into it.

But even with that said, I still do not think Knoblauch only played Lafreniere 7:53 in a game because he was scared of being fired. I don't agree at all.

Note to chuck, Laf played 8 min yesterday with Quinn the coach not knoblach. They were down 4-0 with 13 min left. Curious as to what top players he thought were playing so well that the kids were kept on the bench. They made it close but it was a moral victory at best. I still don’t think we’re out of it. I expect us to pass the flyers shortly and Boston is way underperforming this year and will have a lot of back to backs shortly. They lost to the devils again and had a last minute comeback the game before to beat mighty buffalo. Chuck, you may be right and we don’t make the playoffs. But with 20 something games left out there and 40 something points in play, trailing 5 points out of a playoff spot is not yet impossible to overcome. Keep the faith. If we’re gonna do it I’d rather do it with kids who have a future here and not the Howdens, Rooney’s, blackwells and smiths that are out there now. Wouldn’t it be something if the KAKKOs, laf’s and gautier along with kravtsov shortly get the time and chances to flourish and do so. Then you have a team on the come and can cause some damage. And if they don’t you’ve lost nothing as you don’t think they’ll make the playoffs anyway. I still think Quinn is here the rest of the season but am hoping the team makes a coaching change for next season.

I think he's outta here in the next 2 weeks. Especially with Kravtsov and Barron coming. You can't have somebody as incompetent as him with young forwards when so much of the future here relies on these young forwards.

Oh, sorry mel. I thought he was referencing the game under Knoblauch when he did the same exact thing and no one said boo. My bad - and in no way does that show a pre-determined line of thinking to knock Quinn for everything.

Good times.

As far as the playoffs go, go win a lot of games and anything can happen. The math and %'s are overwhelmingly against us. It is 5 points, but with games in hand, and also being behind 5th place Philly, it will be very challenging to get there. But again, go win and accumulate points, and let the chips fall where they may. Same page.

Chuck can have his opinions whatever they are. However, if he's gonna say that Sunday Quinn wasn't coaching like a scared bitch the way he gave over 20 minutes of ice time to his top 5 forwards, he's full of shit. He coached that game like a coach that expects to lose his job. It was very obvious. Much like it was obvious that the team again sent a message to JD and Gorton that they don't want to play for this guy.

It was not obvious at all. It was obvious he was going all out to win a game that was very important given where we stand, and the team played thier butts off in the 3rd in response. What is also obvious is your clear pre-determined narrative against Quinn. That's pretty clear in many ways as has been pointed out by other posters.
