Honestly, why the eff do we have Glass on this team if after the cheap shot to miller and then Zucc he does nothing? Take a five game suspension and run one of their stars, or Buffoon himself into the boards and put them on a stretcher. Seriously. Guy should get at least a 5 game suspension for both of those incidents.

McIlrath would make this team a lot tougher. AV should have give him a chance next year. The team would be a lot tougher

McIlrath isn't coming up with AV here. If he wanted him here, he'd be up already. AV doesn't like defensemen that have very little offensive skill and are poor skaters. Girardi is about as poor an offensive dman as AV will allow. No way he has McIlrath up with Girardi as well. He should be, but I just don't see AV doing it. McIlrath probably gets moved this offseason, possibly in a package with Talbot, for a center or big winger and a second round pick.

McIlrath won't be moved if they can't find a way to acquire a younger, right handed defenseman. They have none in the system other than McIlrath.

Very nice win against a big physical good team, on their home ice, who are desperate for points to make the playoffs.

Need 2 more points (and 1 ROW) to clinch over the Isles. Need 4 more points (and 1 ROW) to clinch over the Pens.

Wide open with regards to which team we will play. Right this second we'd play the Bruins. The Caps are only 1 point behind the Isles and Pens for 3rd/2nd in the Met. So we could play any of those 3 Met teams (although with their remaining schedule I'd put my money on the Pens being 2nd right now...and they have a game in hand on the Isles/Caps).

Bruins, Caps, Isles, Pens...who knows which team we'll get round 1.

Could be the Bruins as we may finish ahead of the Habs and the Bruins will be the lower WC.
In the Met the Isles very well may finish 4th and be the higher WC. Their schedule is not easy. Two games against CBJ (9-1 in their last 10 won 7 straight). At Philly (very good at home) and at Pitt. Their one easy game is home Buffalo.
Flip side the Caps have a crazy hard schedule also. At Habs, at Sens, at Wings, Bruins, Rangers.
Pens have an extra game and an easier schedule. If they win against Philly tonight in Pitt, I think they will finish 2nd. If they lose then all bets are off.

Going to be very interesting. We could finish 1st or 2nd in the East. We could play the Bruins, Caps, Isles (most likely 1 of these 3), or Pens (very unlikely) in round 1.

Interesting with 11 days left in the season.

Completely agree on big mac. AV missed the boat here to get the kid some experience while klein was hurt and rangers were rolling. Mac's been hartfords best defender for the last 3 months and should have been given an opportunity. God forbid one of the righty d's gets hurt in the playoffs hunwick will be run out of the rink in any of these upcoming more physical playoff series. And by the way Mac happens to be a good skater and better than girardi in that category. What he was weak on and has improved down below is he's seeing the ice better and making better passes out of the zone where previously he handled the puck like it was a live grenade. Very happy with AV but I'll admit this is the one thing I'm disappointed in his handling this year. Mac will either be traded this offseason or on the club as the 7th defenseman alternating with boyle or the 6th d-man if they trade boyle as he is out of options and has no chance of clearing waivers. And the shit that happened with miller and zucc last night DOES NOT happen with mac on the team.

My thought about McIlrath is if he wasn't
traded this past trade deadline, he should be
on the Rangers next year. He really has
improved his game this year.
Point made
that he is the only right handed D in their
system.
You just do not trade the only chip
for backup on the parent club.
I will say this just pray that nothing
happens to Girardi. (Amen)

I think Boston will catch Detroit and pass
them. It looks to be between Ottawa and
Detroit. Boston has found ways to win.......
including kicking pucks into the net. :iamsmiling:

Florida losing to Boston makes their hopes
almost futile.

Out West.....only 2 get in among....Winnipeg,
Los Angeles & Calgary. This may change next
week. LOL

Boston and Detroit play each other tonight. Was sweet justice that Miller made the pass to Kreider and he skated past Byfuglien to score that goal.

that crosscheck to the neck of a defenseless Miller on the ice should warrant at least a 5 game suspension. that was a wreckless dangerous shot that should be dealt with harshly

Well Buffoon has a telephone hearing. Should have been an in person one for that crap.

If the score of the Flyers/Pens game holds (Flyers up 4-1 in the 3rd) we only need 2 points in any way and we clinch the Met.

AND...who the F knows how the rest of the Met will end up.

The Pens and Isles will have 95 points with 77 games played and 38 ROW's. The Caps will have 94 points with 77 games played and 38 ROW's.

Good luck figuring out 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.

As for the Wings and Bruins, the Wings have an extra game to play AND have 1 more ROW right now as well. Plus their schedule is much easier (Boston only has 1 home game left out of 5). So I still give the Wings the edge BUT if the Bruins win in regulation tomorrow night they certainly can pass the Wings for 3rd in the Atlantic.

Reality is we could play 5 different teams. Bruins, Pens, Isles, Caps, and Wings (this is a longshot to me as I still expect them to win tomorrow night and finish ahead of the Bruins).

best match ups for us
1. Pens
2. Wings
3. Caps
4. Isles
5. Bruins

Of course we will end up playing the Bruins...LOL

And I know this will sound crazy, but I kind of want to play the Caps least out of those 5 teams we can possibly play. I say that for a couple reasons.

1. OV is just crazy hot this season.
2. They certainly have more grit and fight this season under Tortz.
3. I think they are due to win a playoff series and be a very tough out.
4. I think Holtby is a real solid goalie.

Give me the Bruins or Pens most of all. I know you guys don't want the Bruins, but I think I rather play them than the Caps. I would say give me the Pens most of all. Then the Bruins. Then the Isles. I leave the Wings out because I still see them 3rd in the Atlantic.

Funny Step. I am on an island with this Bruins thing. We agree on the Pens # 1, but I really don't sweat the Bruins. I think we'd beat them.

I throw the Wings out because I don't see it, but if I put them in I would agree they would be 2 after the Pens.

I would go:

1. Pens
2. Wings (unlikely to me)
3. Bruins

4. Isles
5. Caps

But to me 4-5 are after 1-3 clearly. I don't want the Caps...I really think they are due for a good series win, especially against us, and OV is out of this world right now.

So I switch 3 and 5 from you Step.

I wont take the caps and ovechkin seriously until they can get past the second round. In all his years, the caps have never been past the second round. I don't care how many goals he scores in the regular season. I believe, he scored like over 60 goals one year and they got beat in the first round.

And I hear you, but I truly think that is a different team this year and a different OV this year. He was a huge negative last year, a big positive this year. Team is much more gritty and hard working. And Holtby is better in goal than their previous goalies (including Holtby a few years back).

Not saying they get by round 1 for sure, too many good teams and all the 1st round series will be tough, but I think they will be a tough out. I really rather not play the Caps. I think we'd beat them, but won't be easy. Rather have any of the other options IMO.

At the end of the day it is pretty close between all the teams we could play. And no matter what there are no easy teams that we can say that is a gimme. Even the Pens won't be that with Cindy and Malkin.

When it comes to doling out penalties,
NHL sure does take its time......when they
want to. I am just curious what Byfuglein gets.
I do not trust this league when it comes to do
the right thing. When you think it will go one
way, they go out of their way to change the ruling.
And do not get me started on decisions involving
the NY Rangers. :iamsmiling::smiley-pat:

Get a load of this: " ....the Department of Player Safety retains the right to make
adjustments to the infraction upon review
." Typical NHL jargon
for 'we can make changes to fit our decisions'. Total BS.

Byfuglein GETS 4 GAMES. Winnipeg will not make playoffs off
of this dumb incident.
