well this is it, lose and basically we're done, other teams that are in the running are hot.. sink or swim

maloney says goaltending has been an issue in ottawa,, lol not after 2nite!!!

some god awful play in our own zone to start this game... need to turn this around quick before it gets out of hand... hank really better step it up soon too

i would pull lundy , no excuse for this performance ths far... disgraceful

It's not Lundqvist it's the slow, small defense that let's other teams set up a tent in front of him.

Yes, and he hasn't been great most of the year, but tonight and lately he's been hung out to dry by defense that gives up wide open shots.

They won a game they were supposed to win............lousy defensive play......
my mother would not be scared to skate against Rangers' softees lol

I don't know how much they can even correct it at this point, they are what they are defensively, luckily they have a solid goaltending combo. Big 3 game stretch coming up.

Philly is playing so far over their heads it's unbelievable. That team is not that good.

Philly has talent dump. They have very good deep forwards we all know that. Mason is a solid goalie. 100 times better than Bryz. Not great but solid (which is what that team needed). And on D they made some solid moves adding Streit and MacDonald from the Isles. Is their D great...no, but it is better with those two guys, Schenn, Coburn, and Timo.

Philly is a good team. We agree to disagree on that one. IF we can finish ahead of CBJ we will open at Philly in the 2/3 matchup (Friday night at CBJ will go a long way to deciding the 3 spot in the Met).

Man, it's a lot quieter on this board when the team wins. What a coincidence :)

and agree with Chuck. I think Philly is a solid team.

Ottawa goalies and their D stink without Anderson. Looks like that's the reason why they have stunk this year. If Anderson played yesterday it would've been a different story. Now go out and beat the Blue Jackets. And yes Philly seems to be a solid team. The coaching change did wonders for them.

2 things happened last night that never happens to this team

1) They got some soft goals on the opposing goalie from bad angles. Some of those goals were horrible goals to give up
2) The puck of Stepan's skate even though there wasn't a "distinct kicking motion" counted. LOL Those always go against this team

Good to see Nash get the shorty and EN goal. He is very very streaky we need him to be good down the stretch. The defense looked like utter crap most of the game but its all about points right now and seeing them score goals in bunches is good.

St Louis needs a goal bad. He has a piano on his back and when he gets his first I think he will break out.

funny, when i see comments like ths about our defense, made up of a bunch of softies, even mcD who has played very well, is not a tough guy, makes me think of pollmio1 who said b4 espn shut its doors said 'we now have the best D in the league....lol

They may have the best 2-4 dmen in the league, but no #1 and nobody with offensive flair which holds them back. If they could get a Yandle or Phaneuf type it would take them to a different level.

What? McDonagh is 100% a # 1 dman. You are nuts sc...:).

He is also on pace for 15 goals and 40 points. I think he has a very good shot to break 50 points next season. The arrow is pointing up on his offensive game IMO.

That's true he is one of the best in the league so i guess that puts him as a #1, though he's neither overly physical or offensive. Staal/DG are good 2's, though i see Girardi closer to a second pair guy talent wise.

That's it. McD is a clear # 1 dman with Norris dreams in his future. Staal and Girardi are both # 2's IMO.

The # 4 spot is the issue on our D. That simple really. That is where we need to add a big physical pounding style dman to round out the top 4 and play with Staal. We add that and we have an amazing D next season. Klein and Moore are very good as a 3rd pair.

Our D is very close to being great. Just need that one extra top 4 physical guy to play with Staal and we are set.

Well Chuck I know Staal would agree with you. He has to be sick of playing alongside strahlman

someone is smoking crack if you don't think McD isn't physical enough or not a true #1

those days of the pure crease clearing dmen are ancient history, Mcd does enough imo
