Then follows up clanking one off the post which he must lead the world in

Lots of chances at both ends today. Need to convert those odd man opportunities.

Finally, Kreider beats somebody's ass. He should do that regularly.

If refs called cheap shot on Derek, Kreids does not get
tossed. Good to see Kreids kick some ass.

Zack Smith went right for Derek's head. Stupid ref called "interference".
Bullshit call.

For what Kreids did, team will win.

Only thing wrong with kreids reaction and subsequent asskicking was the ref's interpretation of what everyone in the arena saw and his baffling divying out of penalty minutes

Honestly, Lindberg and Zuccarello are the ones with any sense of how to make a play right now.

Boyle of all people wins it in the shootout. The incredible start continues.

Even though I want Big Mac to play more I was very happy for boyle to come through with the game winning goal. Its tough for any player thats been a star and coming to the end of a career.

Where are the oh Boyle is killing us and we need McIlrath posts now...LOL. I kid, but I still say playing Boyle over McIlrath as our 6th dman is not a huge issue or game changer for us, even though I would have played McIlrath more than 3 games so far.

And 71...at 13-2-2 I think more than just Zucc and Lindberg have a clue how to make a play right now...funny.

Girardi looked like he was dragging today. Wonder if AV gives him a breather tommorrow for big mac and leaves boyle out there.

...^^^^^my sentiments also. It's a loooooooooong
season; Mac will get his games.

Boyle sucked in that game. I was screaming at him for at least 2 periods.

Frankly, I'd like to see dumpboyle for old times sake.

I don't know why anyone would say 'we need McIlrath now'. If he was worth a darn he would be playing more than 1/8 games. The coaching staff is obviously hesitant to put him in there even with Boyle playing like he's 50. They should deal him with D.Moore and a pick or prospect for a 4th line upgrade. Then just bring up Skjei by Jan. Skjei is much much more valuable than DMc.

Spare me 71. You're just being a moron now. It's obvious to anybody with a clue on hockey that Boyle sucks compared to McIlrath. You're so clueless on McIlrath it's mind boggling. Do you grasp the concept that this team doesn't have any right handed defenseman in the system worth crap other than McIlrath? Not to mention the fact against big teams like Washington and St. Louis this team was held in their own zone for at least 2 periods. If it wasn't for dumb luck they would have lost both of those games. Our defense is soft. Period. They don't hit and they don't play well against big teams. Against the 4 big teams they played this year in Winnipeg, Columbus, Washington and St. Louis they are 4-1 due 100% to Lundqvist standing on his head and the offense saving their sorry asses. In three of those wins it was nothing but dumb luck. The team was dominated in 3 of the games. That's a fact. It's because the defenseman are not physical.

Spare me the coaching staff crap. The same coaching staff were f'n morons last year and played Glass all season instead of calling up Lindberg after the mid point in the season. Ruined our 4th line which was a factor in the team getting knocked out. They got no offense from the 4th line all year.

Never ceases to amaze me how the morons on this board start bending over for a player when he makes one play like a shoot-out goal goal. Gimme a break. McIlrath played his best game as a Ranger and AV decided to put him on the bench for the next three. That's poor coaching. Fact. Nothing more than stupidity from a coach who showed last year that he makes poor decisions with old farts out of loyalty. He did the same thing with Glass. Hopefully, Gorton trades Boyle so AV can stop his moronic decisions. This soft defense got the crap kicked out of it in the playoffs. When it was over, 4 of the assclowns on the defense needed surgery. How quickly people forget that the series win vs. Washington, a big, physical team was dumb luck. If Holtby didn't whiff on a long wrist shot by Kreider, they lose in 5 games.

If our best player, the highest paid player didnt do this or that...if the injuries ..id rhe other teams goalie only did this...if if if if..there are a lot more things to sports than a box score

I wholeheartedly agreed on the Glass stupidity Dump but i still refuse to believe McIlrath would be making any difference against those better teams keeping pressure on. Or in general really. Just don't see it long term with guy. And just because he may be the best rh D in the system dosen't necessarily mean he's a solid pro prospect.

Purcell is someone id like to see them pursue when his salary dips to around 2m later this year.

Trading our only legit, physical defenseman on defense and the organizations only young, right handed defenseman in the organization is insanity. Especially when old fart Boyle is basically done. McIlrath's last game was far better than any game Boyle has played this year. AV is doing the same thing with McIlrath that he did with Lindberg last year. Screwing him over for an inferior talent at this point. That's just dumb. Period.

I think it is funny to say Boyle sucks compared to McIlrath. BUT I also think the whole let's have post after post in thread after thread complaining about our 6th dman is just as funny.

With that said maybe that is the biggest compliment we can pay the team. We all know you guys will find something to complain about, so if all we can find is our 6th dman I take that as a positive and say we must be doing pretty well as a team.

Even though I 100% would be playing McIlrath way more than AV has, I am not going to lose sleep over the 6th dman, especially on a 13-2-2 team...LOL.

I also think there is NO COMPARISON AT ALL between Boyle and Glass...NONE. We all saw how awful Glass was and how much he hurt us when he played. We saw it with our eyes AND the numbers showed it. Boyle is nowhere near Glass level, not even close.

So let's not go down a road where we compare Glass and Boyle...not even close.

Unless you're stupid, the comparison of Boyle to Glass is 100% on the money. One, both players were taking up a roster spot from a superior talent. Two, both Boyle and Glass brought nothing to the team. Boyle's only strength was his offense and offensively, he's a non factor. He isn't good defensively. He can't clear the crease. He doesn't hit. He doesn't win battles in the corner. He does nothing. Exactly like Glass.

Boyle was brought here for one and only one reason. His offense and PP skills. Right now, he is 6th out of 6 defenseman in points. In other words, exactly like Glass last year, he brings NOTHING to the team. Is he better than what many other teams use as a 6th defenseman. Yep. Is he better for this team than McIlrath? Not in a million years. I tried to tell some on this board last year who downplayed a 4th line wing. You CAN NOT HAVE A WEAK LINK ON A STANLEY CUP WINNING TEAM. Get a clue.

I wouldn't say Boyle is a weak link, id just say his skill set is redundant and no longer needed now that Yandle is here. We could add a different dimension to the blue line by playing a guy like McIlrath.

I also wouldn't say he's bad defensively either, he's a guy who looks to carry the puck and defenseman like that will always have moments where they're exposed.

Playing Glass made the team actively worse. I posted a thread this time last year saying the fourth line has become non-existent and it would be a problem going forward. Boyle doesn't cause those kinds of problems where benching him would be addition by subtraction. But I would like to see a guy like Mcilrath who can bring a little more toughness to a mostly finesse d core.

As usual well written like an adult dump....LOL.

Of course you are right Prod and we agree 100%. There is no comparison to the level of suck and killing the team that was/is Glass to what Boyle is now...not even close. BUT if dump continues to call people stupid and act as if everyone is clueless except for him maybe it will become true...:).

You cannot have a weak link on a SC winning team...but the Hawks essentially played with 4 dmen last season as they won the cup...LOL.

As a 6th dman Boyle is fine. He is NOWHERE near what Glass was last season. And I say that even while saying I would be playing McIlrath more than AV has as you said as well Prod.
