OT Rant

Welcome to our community

Maybe the OP was trying to be funny and it sailed right over my head but, no, I read it again, and I can't help but be appalled at his open disrespect for the woman who created him. It's an example of the decline of our great country, that attitudes like this are applauded and joked about.

The whole idea of caring more about money than about my mother (who has apparently led a less-than-charmed life and is still struggling) is not a concept I can even partially grasp. Nor do I ever want to. That comes from a culture that is at odds with compassion.

The fact that I am being attacked for "rudeness" toward the OP is absurd. He's talking trash about his mother on the OT board, calling her a thief behind her back to strangers, and we're worrying about offending him? He's a big boy, I'm sure he can handle a few harsh words.

And over a relatively small amount of money of all things.

I pay $425 a year to my tax preparer. If I was ever stupid/lazy enough to have a relative or friend do them I'd pay them $425.

The OP ended up paying his Mom $500 to do his taxes wrong and learned a lesson, hopefully about himself.

Moms never stop teaching their children.

She committed fraud. Like.... "go to jail because you lied to the government" fraud.

He's mad because he would have given her the $500 if she had asked, instead of committing fraud on her taxes and costing him much more than $500.

Clearly you didn't read what he wrote. Also, just because someone births you doesn't entitle them to fuck you over and defraud you. There are plenty of shitty parents. And if you think that parents can do no wrong, I question your abilities as a parent.

Thats great man. We are lucky to have my wife's parents in our lives. They are fantastic people who have more than filled the roll for me. Tough not having my biologicals in the mix, but that ain't happening.

My wife's parents (and more specifically her mother) are insane. So you are lucky, because not all in-laws are good. Some of them are certifiably insane.

Ya I've heard some bad stories from friends. We definitely are lucky.

There's a lesson in dependency and trust here....somewhere between the ranting. I trusted a relative once and it cost me a lot more than that...it is a lesson. I do respect the right to rant though and it's H.C.'s post so in my view...rant away and don't worry about the peanut gallery

Man I have my accountant do my taxes and write it off every year. Doesn't help you this year, but that might be what you should consider for the future. I never mix money and family. I have no contact with both of my parents for different reasons, so I'm lucky this won't ever happen to me.

I've always been involved in my taxes as I was never given the option to not be.
My grandmother would look them over, unfortunately she passed away late in 2018. Which was a huge blow to me personally.
With her being gone I've had to look elsewhere. Next year I will just make sure I handle them myself.

It's my fault for trusting people.

I have to get this out.
Not looking for assistance in fixing the issue as I know what I'd have to do.
It's just a rant.

I'm not close with my parents at all. Neither of them were really a 'parent' during my childhood.
One has got better, while the other is MIA in a different state.
I'm fine with this and I've moved on for the most part because negative people are forever negative people....

This is MY mistake for trusting people.

I'm livid right now for trusting people.
Haven't been this mad in a long, long time.
Mad at myself.
DTA especially family.

Geez, am sorry to hear of you're misfortune.

But the story is confusing. You are not close, but you let her do your taxes?
Did this become the seminal moment, where you first understood her character?

@H.C. I want to say that I really REALLY liked your post that you deleted.

I don't know, if you don't want responses posting here might not be the best way to not get what you don't want. Responding is kind of what we do here.
However, if you really want to post here and not get responses, you could notify a mod and ask them to lock the thread as soon as you post it.

I don't remember the exact post as I've wrote up a couple different ones in response to him.
But made the decision to not hit send because people don't need to know about my personal life. Nor am I obligated to defend myself.
Couple people might know a little bit, of a little bit.

But at the end of the day some things are better left unsaid.

I actually forgot that mods could see posts deleted by the poster. Thank you for reminding me.
Can they see pre-edits also?

Sometimes I think others should post for me.

Wow.

She gave you the f’ing gift of life.

You are forever in her debt, a debt you will always owe, and you’re mad because she’s not wealthy like you.

How old are you?

Your mother is obviously just scraping by and you are well-paid and debt free. why aren’t you building her an apartment in your backyard?

WTF
Worst post of the year candidate #1.

Quick, tell Maris that Obama did this!

You really can't take anything that Maris says seriously.

He probably thinks Sergio is a better point guard than Dame.

Y’all some dicks, and that’s coming from someone who has no filter. HC clearly admits he fucked up and you still attack, satire or not.

Oh, and while mom maybe got paid $500, he’s clearly saying he paid a lot more than the $500 she received. #readingcomprehension

I’m the opposite. My parents are great and there when we need them. My wife’s? No. They don’t exist to us. Ain’t happening.

Saying that he fucked up for trusting his mom isn't the same thing as admitting fault.

His mom fucked him over. He just wants to vent. I don't know why that's such a big deal. I could see Maris' point if he said he was going to turn her in and press charges, but he's just angry at her and angry at himself.

I’m not sure whether we agree or disagree.
