Raptors GM Ujiri Charged With Battery of a Police Officer

The right play would have been:

Oakland PD: He didn't have the right credentials to get onto the court, our officer was trying to do his job and overreacted in the heat of the moment. We apologize to the Raptors and we will work to make sure this kind of thing doesn't happen again.

Raptors: We also apologize for how the situation unfolded and would like to commend the Oakland PD for being a great organization.

Done and done.

Instead the PD is doubling down, and there's talk of a lawsuit, so the Raptors can't say anything. If I'm the NBA I ban that organization from providing security at future games.

"The NBA briefed us to be on the lookout for fake credentials, when the colors didn't match our officer immediately acted to protect the players and fans."

Some reporting from Toronto newspaper that seems more in depth: "However, The Globe has interviewed three men who were sitting within 10 feet of the altercation, and each says they never saw Mr. Ujiri strike the officer’s face."
And on how the police are really trying to milk this: "Police have said the deputy suffered a concussion and jaw injury as a result of the incident and he is currently off work. Sacramento-based litigation lawyer David P. Mastagni says he has been retained by the officer and that his client has not ruled out suing the Raptors, the NBA and Mr. Ujiri, who is already facing a criminal investigation."

That officer is a little bitch

Sheriffs office now contends Ujiri showed credentials, his NBA ID, and indentified himself as the Raptors President, but didn't have the right credentials to get to the court. The officers still maintains Ujiri pushed and struck him. His private Laywer sats his client has a "serious jaw injury" and that charges will still be pressed.

Looks like the officer is trying to get paid. Hoping Ujiri will settle. Every witness however sides with Ujiri. Apparently, the security footage from oracle shows Ujiri hitting the officer with two fists, according again to the lawyer.

Look you either have the correct credential for floor/locker room access our you don't, it's THAT simple. Everybody has an NBA ID, shit even TPFKATHCP has one.....that ain't getting you on the floor. A separate credential is what that's for.

But it sounds like there was an additional credential for the trophy presentation.

The Oakland Sheriff's office has released a statement saying they have pictures of Ujiri striking the officer. They have shown said picks to various media outlets including the Globe and Mail but are not allowing them to publish. They further maintain by doing this they have not affected the Witness pool.

They have though. They are trying to intimidate witnessess by saying they have evidence they refuse to share. They are basically calling witnesses liars.

Well it is interesting Ujiri hasnt said anything (AFAIK), if the cops are lying they seem to be really glued to the lies, maybe they feel like they can get away with it. Its actually become kind of strange at this point.

I bet they also have evidence that it was Ujiri that injured Durant.

Ujiri was on the grassy knoll! Ok that's kale chips but still

Ive not commented on this as I didn't see it myself and figure the truth will come out on a video.
Having worked with high level executives throughout the years Ive learned they are no different than anyone else when it comes to conduct, ego, I'm climbing the ladder and will go through or over anyone to get there, also very high respectable individuals with high standards and considerations of people, regardless of role.
If they have evidence that he assaulted the officer he should be treated no differently than if it was you or me hitting the guy.
If however, there is no hard evidence than the whole thing should be dropped.
Ive been around a few CEO and VP's that throw their weight around during conference's and expo's, with dis respect and its ugly. I think Ujiri has a good reputation but nobody is infallible.

"We have a video but we won't show it cause we don't want to influence witnesses… But let it be known that we have hard evidence that he is 100% guilty and anybody who says otherwise is a liar !!!"

Statement from the Raptors. Remember that the pig sued Ujiri and said he was permanently injured from the encounter!

"Sgt. Ray Kelly, the Alameda County Sheriff's Office spokesperson, said Ujiri presented his credentials in a “very threatening way,” which led the officer to push him because his personal space was violated."

But in February, Strickland filed a federal lawsuit against Ujiri, the Raptors, Maple Leaf Entertainment at the NBA alleging Ujiri shoved him so hard on the court that he suffered physical injuries to his head, jaw, chin and teeth. Strickland also filed a workers' compensation claim alleging Ujiri “circumvented” the security checkpoint and then tried to “storm” the court and “hit him in the face and chest with both fists.” Strickland also claimed Ujiri had a “violent predisposition” and acted with an “evil motive amounting to malice,” according to his suit and workers' compensation claims.

As for whether Strickland will ever return to work is unclear. According to Transparent California, Strickland earned $224,000 a year, not including benefits, in 2018. According to his suit, Strickland has been “prevented from attending to his usual occupation” and believes that will be the case “for a period of time in the future.” Strickland alleged he suffered such a “shock of injury to his nervous system” that he believes “will result in some permanent disability.” In addition to the physical suffering, Strickland also said his “emotional well-being” also took a blow. In February, KTVU cameras saw him out for lunch with his wife, carrying boxes and using a power saw in the spring outside his home.. In March, KTVU broke an exclusive story revealing that in 1994, Strickland was arrested and later convicted of insurance fraud, raising questions about his integrity, legal experts said. The fraud charge was discovered when Strickland was applying to be a San Mateo police officer in 2005 - a job he did not get.
