Two things:

1. Rasheed hated the media more than the refs.

2. His teammates loved him. It was amazing how much they gushed about him.

fix in bold. He'd speak to the national media but hated and turned his back on the local hacks (especially Quick) because of their daily hatchet jobs on him and his teammates. Since he got his ticket out of Portland he's been a regular quote in both the local papers in Detroit and Boston. Certainly this is not the most professional course of action and he bears part of the blame, but make no mistake about it that Quick was also very much to blame in why things were so strained between the club and the local media. He was a lazy gossipy cheap shot artist masquerading as a beat reporter who burned players time and again. Dude belongs in the Living section covering Hollywood and speculating on what might happen next on daytime TV

It was all the local media. Didn't matter who you were. He was rude, standoffish, and truculent with pretty much anyone holding a tape recorder. I once said "good game sheed" and he just walked right past me. No words spoken. He is the only player I have ever seen with that kind of attitude towards the media. To be fair, I saw some pretty ridiculous stunts from guys like Canzano to try to goad him into a reaction.

for the most part the local media seemed to be following the O's lead so he turned his back on all of them. Since he's been gone I've read quotes from Sheed specifically blasting Quick though... he is the main papers Blazer Beat reporter.

And yet, for some reason he trusted Geoffrey C. Arnold..... gee, I wonder why.

would that be the same reason that he chose to play for Dean Smith over local Phili legend John Chaney and lists Andre Agassi as his sports idol?

he only did one interview with Arnold. I'd guess he stopped talking to him for the exact same reason he stopped speaking to JQ. Maybe he is a racist as Quick (and now you) claim, but you're throwing out some weak sauce as evidence of a pretty serious charge.
