I'm ashamed of the Portland fans that booed Sheed. Really? Sheed was an awesome player, even if he was out of control sometimes. Honestly I think Sheed would have a chance at beating LMA one on one.

Not if it was reffed by an NBA ref.

Can't hold it against the guy that he thought the Reffing wasn't impartial. Turns out, as expected, he was right.

For me, the amount of calls and the inconsistency with calls is the biggest gripe.
There's always a fricken whistle for the pissiest of ticky tack fouls. (MEN playing or Girl Scouts?)
This all undermines one of the beauties of basketball - the free flowing part of the game.

But the way it's institutionalised by the NBA these days, whether for gambling or Ad airtime - foul calls are way too intrusive, and the game now has a much more stop-start nature.
It enables refs to control the flow of the game, they can shave points and influence the outcome of the game.

Until this is addressed, along with guaranteed player contracts, the NBA will only be a shadow of what it could be.

Poppovich commented that the Spurs have had a problem with the Blazers for a long time. The common element is we've had one of the best in the game at playing Duncan during much of Timmy's lengthy stay in the league, be it Rasheed or LMA.

Does he live in Portland part-time?

I know he still owns the house that was featured on MTV Cribs.

RaWeeeeeeeed Wallace baby.

Played paintball w/him a long while back.... they know how to toke...

Explain? Sheed was always upfront about not wanting to be the centerpiece of a team. And as I've illustrated, PFs shouldn't be the centerpiece of a championship team. There's nothing oxymoronic about liking Sheed and disliking LMA.
And just look at those videos I posted in the game thread - Sheed would rarely embarrass himself with that sort of play. He'd embarrass himself in other, more entertaining ways.

No what's oxymoron is how you complain how Aldridge doesn't give his best effort every game, when Sheed was the poster child of a player that

I loved Sheed's game. As a Blazer he guarded elite bigs like Shaq better than anyone could. Underrated player and got snubbed for multiple allstar nods, couldn't get a call to save his life which led to bitterness toward the way the games were called. I was glad to see him win a ring in Detroit and that roster brought out the best in him. He was his era's Dennis Rodman. Refs hated him. I was thrilled he went to the Blazers game last night. Off the court he had issues, we know that but on the court he was a great player. I couldn't compare Lamarcus to him because Sheed was to defense what LA is to offense. LA put up better numbers. Sheed got stops. He called the Donaghy controversy and he was right. Donaghy gave him a ton of techs to shave pts and affect games. Pissed Sheed off but Sheed was right all along.

...well said! I love Sheed.

i always liked Sheed, i just like people who are a bit different and bring some personality and color into the world - was a big Rodman fan too - he was a trip and pretty unique, but shit me could he rebound n play defense.

i think another part of the reason i liked sheed was that i was always hoping he'd make good on his talent to the max. i mean he had all the tools but it never really clicked for any length of time - but even at his most cruise control games he always looked like a beast waiting to explode.

annnnnnnnnnnnd probably worth dropping this here again, its still hilarious!

100 reasons to love rasheed wallace. lots of college references.

4.Tried to psych up his teammates by
yelling, "Let's go out and play like
we're Chicago on NBA Jam."

24.He avoided interviews following
games because he was in the
training room calling his moms.

41.Turnaround jump shot to win 1996 NBA All-Rookie game.

91.His minor skirmish in 1997 NBA Playoffs with Jerome Kersey, after which
there was so much love for Rasheed in the crowd that the fans began to
cheer "Beat L.A.!" while Rasheed pumped his fist to urge them on.

94.Not afraid of reacting to a call against him, no matter how solid.

I loved Sheed too! But he definitely didn't perform to his expectations

Well, I didn't care for the man and you couldn't have gotten him out of town soon enough back in the early 2000's. I ironic thing about him is many said he was SOOOOO unselfish and such a great team player. I called him back then too selfish to be selfish for the good of the team. Why? Because that's what this team needed to get over the top. And he wasn't going to have any of it.

I just found him to be really unlikeable. There was nothing excusable about the Sabas incident. Or the many times he put his team in a tough position with the agenda he had with the refs.

I'm glad they traded him.

Oh that comment is going to draw flies! But I tend to agree, damn good ball player but he sure needed to be lead by a strong force.

My posts back then about him drew flies. Won't be the first!

The thing I love about LA. Up until last season, I wasn't really that high on him or a big fan. I thought he was a lot like Sheed. I didn't think he cared all that much about the outcome. Just cut the check. But he changed last year. And turned into something this team needed him to be. That was a leader on and off the court and a go to guy in the clutch. Something Sheed could have decide to do time and time again. And he never did.

I now love LA for the growth he was WILLING to show in the last couple of years. And I have the mans back anytime something derogatory comes about on him.

Ill always be a sheed fan. he couldnt stand cheating refs so no surprise he set a tech record on a team that is always fucked by refs. He didnt cower like a bitch to this unethical behavior, he was a man and stood up against it.

lol...wow.

I don't even know where to start with this Sheed.

Yes sir! I agree completely. I like the man, I like the growth he shows every year. He is very good now and I don't think he is done, greatness is near.

As black militants, Sheed and Sidney Wicks fought authority. They are the most talented players this team ever had, along with Bill Walton, who fought authority more cerebrally.

Bring back Bob!

All I'll say is if the man put would have put his focus and resources on what was best for the team and towards winning instead of worrying about the refs and all of the other stuff. The team probably would have one championship.

He was a big damn baby.

Sheed is a martyr in defense of the integrity of the game. He wasnt the hero we wanted, he was the hero we needed. He was the lone farmer who refused to pay the kings ransom. He was portland's William Wallace.
You will never get to the bottom of the prediction game standings with that attitude.
