Rate the Blazers Offseason

How would you grade the Blazer's Offseason Player Movement? Quick Review:

We signed Miller (for 2 years)
We dumped Sergio
We dumped Frye.
We used our 1st rounder on a Euro, who won't play for us.
We drafted and signed 2 of our 2nd rounders.
We extended Roy, and let's assume LMA gets extended as well.

My opinion:
We didn't have a consolidation trade.
We basically used RLEC to get Miller.
We didn't trade Outlaw, and I don't really know his role on this team.
We dumped our 1st rounder.

Grade: C

The grade: C+
However, the Blazers really didn't need more than a passing grade to be in a great position this year. Overall, I think the Blazers did get better over the offseason with the acquisition of Miller, and with the expected progress of other youngsters like Oden, Batum, Rudy ..., and with the return of the average Webster. Add to that that the Blazers did not lose anyone of importance and the Blazers have the roster they need to compete at the highest level with great potential for the future.

I wish KP had consolidated and gotten us another star at SF, but that would have really been sugar. I would still like to see a trade for a good bu PF, that would have bumped it to a B in my opinion.

I had much higher expectations coming into this summer, than just adding Miller, about whom I have some underlying reservations with fit.

No consolidating was done. Unmet expectations --> not passing.

C. Miller is a good player, but I was hoping for more on draft day and with the variety of potential trade pieces we have.

I think Miller is a great addition. However I think we whiffed on DeJuan Blair, a player that would have addressed the backup PF problem for cheap. I like what I've seen from Cunningham and Pendergraph, but I think Claver was drafted too high.

If they get LMA signed and make a consolidation trade, it rises to a "B". The draft makes them ineligible for an "A".

The draft disappointed me a bit, which prevents this from being an A.

RLEC has nothing to do with this offseason, so I'm not sure it's fair to factor that into the grading.

Does "Dumped 1st Rounder" = getting rid of Sergio? If that's the case, I'm not sure how much a negative that is. We have had so many 1st round picks over the last few years, and I knew they wouldn't all pan out.

I think I would give Portland a B maybe a B+. We didn't make any financially risky moves. We didn't get rid of any contributors of an up and coming 54 win team. We upgraded at our 2 weakiest positions. We added more talent overseas.

technically hollinger has his at 12th, blake isnt even in the top 20, so we ONLY moved up at least 8 spots in the rankings for that position.

Approximately, in my opinion. He's been underrated his whole career and I think he still is.

I'd take Paul, Williams, Parker, Harris, Rose, Rondo and Billups ahead of Miller. Then I'd put Miller in a group with Nash and Jameer Nelson. Nash used to be ahead of him, but his declining offense and atrocious defense doesn't place him definitively ahead of Miller, as far as I'm concerned.

So, in my estimation, that puts Miller somewhere at 8-10 among NBA point guards.

This same question came up just a week ago with a different poster. I gave it a C. This time I gave it a B. B for B-. The team did improve. That's the point of the offseason. If things fall into place just right. They can win it all this year.

You've also got Sergio for an avatar ... not trying to be a dick (it just comes naturally) but I don't really care what you think when it comes to Miller's ranking amongst active point guards.

As for my grade, I give KP a solid B-. Kudos for getting Miller and especially at the price and contract he got him, nice veteran acquisitions with Howard (and maybe Ime) got rid of Sergio and let Channing move on, but the draft was pretty disappointing (Claver? ugh.) and he did nothing to alleviate the logjam at the wing and consolidate some of this young talent.

I understand what you're saying, I guess I just don't agree that we have his expiring contract this off-season because we couldn't trade him nor use his 13M in our favor. I thought the poll was related to the off-season, not cumulative moves or lack there of, prior to the off-season.
