Ehhh, I'd say his last 12 games or so is meaningless when compared to the 164 before it...

While I agree that this is fair - I still question if this team would have wanted to invest that much in him to have basically 3 max contracts on the roster even if PA was still alive.

Porter/Morris for Harkless/Leonard/Aminu saves the Wiz over $6M (+tax savings) this year, and nearly that much next year. Plugging those guys into our starting and backup PF spots (I think Porter and Layman could be complementarily interchangeable in the starting lineup) feels like a very good fit to me.

I don't know if getting out of the Porter deal and opening up PT for Oubre is worth that kind of talent downgrade for WAS, but I hope Neil is asking.

Layman is good when we aren't facing a heavy offensive team, but tonight his defense killed us. Even if Harkless isn't starting, he would have saved us a load of hassle.

Not true. Layman had the best +/- on the team last night.

No one was slowing down LeBron, Ingram was shooting over CJ at will on the block, McGee had numerous uncontested looks at the rim, the guards were no where near Ball for most of his '3's....not sure how that is a Layman issue. In fact, the guy he guarded most often....who routinely kills us, was Kuzma, who had a grand total of 7 points.

Layman isn't great on defense but it was hardly his lack of D that was anywhere in the top-5 in reasons they lost last night IMO.

Yeah, I'm no Layman fan, but he was by far our best +/- guy: we outscored them by 14 when Layman was on the floor.

Layman has his Pros and Cons just like any player. What is very impressive is how his efficiency has dramatically improved. Granted, he is not taking very many shots and very rarely has a play run for him out side of an early back door alley-oop....which works very often.

But his shooting efficiency numbers are ridiculous.

FG% - .582
3-pt% - .500
eFG% - .700

The .700 eFG% is currently 3rd in the league behind 2 guys (Damian Jones and Rudy Gobert) who very rarely take a shot outside of 3'.

Those would certainly go down with more shots but at the same time, if someone is shooting that well, I'm all for getting them a couple more shots per game.

How Jim Calhoun and Geno Auriemma lasted at the same school as long as they did amazes me. Talk about two guys that didn't like to share the same spotlight. There is no way Dan Hurley is ever going to get on equal footing with Geno at Uconn. Auriemma's team is like a religion up there.

This seems to undervalue Rozier. Can Warren play D? Because we already have a three-shooting SF whose defense is mediocre, and he's cheap and currently starting.

I think the fact he doesn't take a lot of shots makes his 3 pt stats even more impressive. Most players need a few shots to get going. Jake so far has been extremely efficient. No way that can last and I expect him to hit a slump at some point, but damn he has a sweet looking outside stroke.
