MSNBC’s David Shuster became a fan of Fox News’ late-night comedy/news hybrid Red Eye just in time for its three-year anniversary.

And it’s coming at a time when the 3amET show is seeing big ratings in the A25-54 demographic – even topping CNN prime time last week.

Just like when we highlighted the show’s ratings in September 2009 (which the FNC advertising department enjoyed as well, taking out full-page ads in the New York Post and others), the ratings for last week show Red Eye beating CNN again. This time, the show had better ratings in the A25-54 demographic than Campbell Brown at 8pmET and Larry King at 9pmET, and tied Anderson Cooper at 10pmET (Monday-Thursday).

Its a panel show...its pretty smarmy and entertaining.

It's a bunch of gay conservatives acting like liberals, with a very few conservative jokes, but giving the image of a liberal show. A liberal show is the only way Fox can get ratings in the middle of the night. Old conservatives don't leave their TVs on all night like they do all day, boosting FOX's ratings while they're out of the TV room.

I've caught this show a few times when I've had insomnia. I wouldn't call it "liberal".

People watch O'Reilly for shock value. They want to see what kind of crazy shit he's going to say with a straight face next. I'm guilty of watching every once in awhile too.

Wow. I remember him when he was an anchor for KATU. I'm not sure I'd watch his current show, however. He seems--and yes, this is a full-blown irony alert--a little to full of himself.

I don't agree with much of what he says, but I love the show.
