Game Thread Red Sox @ Yankees 8/04/15

I enjoyed Ortiz's annoyed look while sitting in the dugout.

Another 13 spot. Chris Young has been some addition.

...there was something going on that we don't know about...Girardi seldom goes out there without removing the pitcher right away...but he and McCann talked it over with Wilson...Wilson even nodded his head "yes" like he knew it was the right move...but whatever.

wilson ONLY gets taken out of that situation for injury..

It made no sense to me on a 1-2 count. Let Wilson get out of the seventh inning.

Yup, and although hindsight is 20-20, and as it turned out with the Yanks scoring a bunch more runs in bottom 7th - had Wilson stayed in the game and had gotten out of the inning, Betances wouldn't even been "needed" to pitch AT ALL in this game.
Hindsight has 20-20 vision, but "we" were willing to go with Wilson BEFORE the Yanks blew the game open in the 7th inn. lol

...well, obviously you're wrong.

...why do you keep complaining about moves that worked out?...oh, never mind, I forgot who I was taking to.

Well you can certainly call them the Bronx Bombers again.

They needed this with Severino going tomorrow. I hope for the best but you never know with a young kid. Will be fun.

It's a shame starters cannot go longer.

Put the Bomb into The Bombers of the Bronx.

Tough 7th inning for Tex......2 outs & both Ks.

first off, he humiliated wilson by taking him out, second, it ain't gonna work out in a game with more meaning, and 3rd , i know exactly what i am TALKING too

60-45 and remain three games behind KC for the best record in the AL.

Fellas, "nobody" is saying this Yankee team is some kind of juggernaut and they haven't won ANYTHING yet, but all things being equal - no injury epidemic, pitching doesn't FALL APART ➡ if any two of Headley, Beltran and Gregorius can stay close to their current course and compliment the rest of the lineup, the Yankees will be very hard to "beat" for the division......A.L. East could still possibly have two or three very good teams when the dust clears.

first off, he humiliated wilson by taking him out,
....that's what I thought,,,you either were not paying attention or noy watching the game...Wilson was not "humiliated"...he obviously knew why they were making the change and even nodded his head "yes".

second, it ain't gonna work out in a game with more meaning, and 3rd ,

...lol, why not, it worked tonight, didn't it?...removing Tanaka when they did worked out too, didn't it? ...but you complain about that too. ...leaving Chris Young instead of pinch hitting Gardener worked out too, didn't it?...but you complained about that too.

i know exactly what i am TALKING too

...really? ...and "what" would that be?

Looks like home field could/should be Very important - imo - there are potential A.L. playoff teams who although they rightfully feel they can beat anyone, anywhere, they quietly, secretly have the Yankees @ Yankee Stadium very high on their list of teams they would rather NOT play in the post season. IMHO

Well looking forward to Severino and then really looking forward to the Toronto series. Good solid pennant race baseball. We've missed this for a few years.

p.s. regarding my post # 77, Yankees are also currently a "potential" playoff team-
Nothing more, nothing less.....we have approx two montns left in the reg season, and we know what that means.

Oh yeah! Good stuff.
I don't see Toronto OR Baltimore fading (but it sure would help, lol)
And to be fair to the kid Severino, he's entitled to be a bit nervous and ONE game doesn't make a season however, he could be a difference making godsend and be the ace-type down the stretch.

Gee, do you think I've just made him feel more confident while also putting a little pressure on his shoulders? Lol

All kidding aside, so far this is a wonderful, exciting and entertaining time...Yanks trying to increase a first place lead in the first week of August while calling on their top pitching prospect to step in and help carry the load.

Kinda like complaining about why it couldn't be $800.00 instead of winning $796.00 at the race track.

Had to watch the game on DVR late in the night, damn near bacon, eggs and a stiff cup of Java on the East Coast......

The Un-Sung Hero no doubt, McCann, all the way, not only did He take a beating behind the plate, time and time again, the recipient of those damned gopher killers, coming uncomfortably close to the cup.....Looks like his Hockey Goalie skills were at His best, was there any member of His body not pummeled????

Then on top, vindication for all those bruises, a few more feet, and Brian's HR, looked like it may of wound up in the 3rd deck, just another 10-25 ft.....?

Damn am I glad like ya'll; looking forward to Severino's debut tomorrow, cya then, "until then good night and have a pleasant tomorrow".....

...the Yanx are on a roll right now, but like I said earlier, the Sox are just a bad team right now...both fun to watch.

These statements are complaints ?????????????????

Happy for McCann, was looking at him as a good hire when acquired, disappointing year at bat last season but right up to speed this year. Earlier in the year it was predicted that if McCann, Tex, and Beltran could improve 20 per cent over last year the offense would be fine. Seems that has happened plus a huge surprise from the druggist. Still don't believe that the pitching is up to speed. Hope that Severino is a success and lengthens the rotation.

Yup, the offense has improved above and beyond anyone's expectations.

...McCann, ARod, Tex, and Headley are all having the best year they've had in a long time...everyone has remained injury free for the most part...and as unlucky as they've been for the last couple of years, the Yanx have had fortune smile on them for a change this year...knock on wood.
...the offense is clicking on all cylinders right now and if the pitching does the same, the Yanx can be a force come October.

I called last year that McCann was going to need last year to adjust and would do FAR better this year... Just saying

Remember when the Yanks signed McCann......?.......LH batter with good power and naturally many observers - myself included - felt he would benefit considerably playing his home games at Yankee Stadium---- then we saw spray charts (on this board) showing comparisons of where McCann's HRs at Turned Field indicating how he won't nessecarilly benefit much from playing home games at Yankee Stadium.

But those "spray charts" have been rendered irrelevant in McCann's case and Yankee Stadium.
Yankee Stadium is friendly to LH hitters who can pull the ball well because:
They "see" the ball better, the ball travels and carries very well in the outfield towards RF and RCF....and of course the cozy dimensions to RF are always a factor.

Fact is, McCann has become one of those Yankee LH hitters with power who thrives at Yankee Stadium "power-wise".

To date, 8/5/15 at Yankee Stadium
136AB, 12 HRs, .618 SLG%, .1.004 OPS
Away-
170AB, HRs 6, .365 SLG%, .637 OPS

2014- at Yankee Stadium
260AB, 19 HRs, .496 SLG%, .784 OPS
Away-
235AB, 4 HRs, .306 SLG%, .591 OPS

Now that we've tossed THOSE spray charts in the garbage....A closer look at McCann's Home/Away splits shows him to be very mediocre on the road with his power numbers.
I think we can live with that as he absolutely is a MAJOR power threat playing 81 games at Yankee Stadium and hopefully will include post season production.
