The Reno Bighorns won 110-104 tonight, having back to back wins against the Santa Cruz Warriors Tuesday night at the Reno Events Center. The Bighorns are now 22-13.
The first quarter there were four lead changes and the two teams were tied twice. Reno led going into the second quarter, 27-22.
Santa Cruz caught up to Reno in the second quarter, tying the game at 36 with 6:45 left in the half. The Warriors went on a 9-0 run (6:13-3:22) to take the lead from the Bighorns. Sundiata Gaines hit a huge three-pointer with 27 seconds left in the half, to once again give the Bighorns the advantage. Gaines followed the three-pointer, with a layup. The Bighorns went into halftime leading 52-51. Gaines had 17 of those points.
Santa Cruz pulled away from the Bighorns in the third quarter, after going on a 7-0 run (5:42-3:52). The Warriors led by as many as 12 points. Reno cut the Warrior's lead to 4, to close out the third quarter 82-78.
The fourth quarter the two teams were tied five times and there were nine lead changes.
For the Bighorns, Sundiata Gaines had a season-high of 27 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Also in double figures were: DeQuan Jones (21), Bryan Davis (15) and Trent Lockett (14). Mo Charlo had his seventh double-double this season with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Santa Cruz's Cameron Jones had a game-high of 29 points and 3 rebounds. Dominic McGuire added 22 points, Seth Curry had 20 and Ognjen Kuzmic scored 10, plus 18 rebounds.
