The Bulls and Nets are reportedly getting closer to a trade that would send Larry Hughes to New Jersey, while Bobby Simmons would head to Chicago.

A league source confirmed a report in the Bergen Record that the teams have had serious discussions. If the Nets sign off on it, the deal will get done.

Chicago might also get guard Maurice Ager in the trade to help come close to the money owed Hughes, per NBA rules.

"That's fine," Hughes said Tuesday night. "I'm ready to play, whether it's here or somewhere else."

I don't know if I'm much of a fan of this deal.

Simmons is a role player and will take the back seat to Devin/Vince/Brook. I don't think Hughes has that same attitude

There is conflicting reports on there out there. Mike McGraw had today that the Bulls/Nets had the discussions weeks ago, and already said it didn't make sense, and moved on.

But you never know with NBA trade talks. They'll die, then sprout up again, and sometimes get completed.

I'm surprised there isnt a thread about this in the bulls section. But I heard about Hughes possibly being traded to the nets but they didnt say who was involved. Bobby simmons might be able to help, I havent really heard much about him besides being injured.

I live in Cleveland, believe me, you do not want Larry Hughes.

In fact, if Kiki does the deal, then he instantly becomes a worthless piece of crap IMO.

No team should want Hughes, simply because he values having fun over winning, and has publicly said so many times and finds nothing wrong with his attitude.

He went to the finals with the Cavs and came out and said that he didn't have fun because it was too serious.

ROFLMAO!

Make the Bulls suffer... please, Kiki... don't do it...

Larry Hughes was described as a "Chemistry assassin" today.

They believe that Hughes would help them win more games, but he will clog up $3 million more in cap space next year, and he is widely known around the league as a chemistry assassin.

The Nets did their due diligence on Hughes weeks ago, and one instance on March 4 was widely interpreted as telling: Three weeks after he was traded from Cleveland to Chicago, the 11th-year vet essentially said that he’d rather get shots with the Bulls than play in the NBA Finals for the Cavs, as he did the year before.

“I play to enjoy myself. Some people take this the wrong way, but winning a championship is not what I base everything on,” Hughes said. "I would rather enjoy myself with 18,000 to 20,000 people watching the game and the people sending fan mail and those things and be happy.
