Interesting. That is a ballsy move by a guy who has often misses 15-20 games a year. Looks to me like he wants out NOW. I would think the Lakers if it wasn't for the fact he is great friends with Kyrie.

I would legit trade CJ for Butler and then start Baldwin.

Dame
Baldwin
Butler
Collins
Nurk

Hmm. I always think of his as a big guard, but that would be interesting

Try and leave one of Dame or Baldwin on the court at all times and then bench could be: (Dame/Baldwin) Curry and the three best shooters.

Not sure minny would want CJ. I think they’d be more interested in a Collins/Turner package. Cheaper and Thibs loves Turner.

I would do that too but we better go get Davis back then!

Not bad but I think I would bring Baldwin off the bench in that scenario. You already have 2 guys in Butler and Dame who like to dominate the ball.

Baldwin would be on ball on D though, giving Dame some breathing room.

So I have two questions:

1. How much does this damage Butler's trade value? People know they're going to be in a trade or lose for nothing scenario.

2. Can we somehow get Butler without giving up CJ? I'm still in favor of moving CJ, but if we could get Butler without giving up CJ, maybe we could still use CJ to pry away Kawhi.

Also, in my scenario, I'd move Dame to shooting guard. He's actually significantly more efficient as a shooting guard.

Dame
Butler
Kawhi
Aminu
Nurkic

Fuck offfffff

I have to agree on this. Baldwin with the ball in his hands running a second unit could be very good. You could always play him a bit more if you need more defense. Starters with Dame and Butler would be amazing. Baldwin running an offense with Curry, Trent, Layman spotting up would be very fun. Might be tempted to try full hockey line switch with:

1st: Dame, Jimmy, Harkless, Aminu, Nurkic;
2nd: Baldwin, Curry, Trent/Stauskas, Layman, and Collins (sorry ET)

What a moron, see generally, Nerlens Noel and Isaiah Thomas.

One hundred and twenty five million dollars.

Give him some credit. It's not about the money. He wants to win and evidently doesn't think KAT and the rest of the pups are really motivated to do what it takes to win.

Butler has a much longer track record. He doesn’t have to worry.

Why did Paul George get 4 years, $137 million but Butler only gets 4 years, $110 million. I know George has one more year of experience. He was in the 7-9 years of service max range. Butler only has 6 years but this extension would take place after his 7th year with a higher cap and in the same amount of years of service as George had. That is the same kind of bullshit that led to Aldridge leaving as we couldn't offer as much money in an extension as we could if we waited until he was an UFA. The NBA needs to change that rule in the next CBA.

Butler can get 4/140 from another team or 5/180 from the Wolves next summer.

Why take 4/110 now?
Stupid ass rule. If the NBA just fixed this it would lead to smaller markets retaining their players better instead of letting them get to unrestricted free agency.

Not at all. Not for an All-Star guard.

Shit.... CJ is making more than that I think.
Yeah I amended my post to reflect what I was thinking.

I was also going to comment that maybe it's not about the money and perhaps (dreaming) he'd accept that from us, but I see someone else already suggested more or less that.

Also, I was thinking of it in terms of adding an amount greater than what he was offered to our existing contracts, and that with penalties it could effectively cost the Blazers 3X that amount.

But of course if we could send them some contracts (preferably not CJ) like some combination of Turner/Meyers/Aminu/Harkless, then it wouldn't add that much to our salary structure so, yeah....

GET HIM NEIL!!!

That is, unless Neil has some reason to believe he's a team killer, which it kind of seems he might be.

In other words, I have no idea about anything.

Que sera, sera.

Breaking News: Butler will sign with the Warriors for Vet Minimum
Well since he's not a free agent that is impossible. Instead he'll sign there for the Tax-MLE next summer.

I don't really want Butler. Not a fan of his attitude and this will be his third team in as many years. It's also very clear that he wants to play in a big market with Kyrie. PASS.

That's what everyone thought about Paul George though.
