Kawhi Leonard and the San Antonio Spurs have developed a strained relationship over the past few months and may even want a trade.

"Kawhi Leonard wants out of San Antonio is what I'm hearing," said Jalen Rose on First Take. "The reason why is twofold. One is they've been unable to attract elite level, All-NBA caliber free agents to come play with him. Think about this: the reason why, in my opinion, we always talk about players joining large market teams. We never say who's going to San Antonio to play with Kawhi.

"Here is why I think players have not done that. The Spurs' way looks like opportunity dressed in overalls. It looks like work and people really don't want that.

"When you go to San Antonio, guess who is the CEO of that organization? Gregg Popovich. It's going to be his way.

"So for Kawhi and also the way his injury situation was handled. You see him in the lineup, you see him out of the lineup. Is it his quad? What's going on with his history? Was he misdiagnosed?

Trade CJ and whatever else it takes to get Kawhi

Trade Nurk n' change to get Jordan.

I'd hate to lose our Bosnian posters, but I want a legitimate "big three" dammit.

I want him as bad as anyone but how are we gonna change the bolded statement?

DJ isn't in any position to be a part of a "big 3". He contributes almost nothing on offense save alley oops, and pick and roll finishes. He wouldn't average more than what he's averaging now

11 PPG...

We know they would ask for Dame. I'd think long and hard about that one, but ultimately would say no. The idea of getting Kawhi would be to pair him with Dame.

Trade everyone else (hopefully not Nurk), but literally everyone else.

I like Jalen Rose. But Jalen be like:

"We never say who's going to San Antonio to play with Kawhi."

MF!!! We said that 2+ years ago when they signed the BIGGEST FA on the market.
Jalen also called that LA would go to the Spurs months before he actually did.

If Leonard actually came available, I'm pretty sure there would be offers that would easily trump what Portland could offer. Top-five superstars in their young prime are almost never available. Boston, for one, could make a much better offer.

The bolded is about FAs man.

I get that, but if the blazers traded for a better core of players it could make that point moot. In the end it is about better players.

I mean, Boston has great picks and young players but do they have the salary to get a Kawhi? I don't see the Spurs wanting Hayward. The Celtics would be kinda forced to do Brown, Tatum, Smart, and a pick for Kawhi. I don't see Ainge doing that.

Why, out of curiosity? Hayward seems like a very Spurs type of player--good all-around, smart player. Hayward alone obviously wouldn't be great, but Hayward plus the Lakers' pick and another top young player, like Brown, would be a really strong offer.

Right? So even HE was saying it.

Love you J, but that was not a well thought out comment.
But was LA's departure about going to play for Kawhi or was it because it was the best team in his home state and Pop/Duncan were fondling his balls all July?

Well, for one Hayward hasn't shown what he is capable of post injury AND he is making like 30 million a year now, big huge risk. San Antonio just isn't the type of organization that takes that type of risk at that price.

They're gonna trade for Kawhi when 3 of their best players are SFs? They need a big.

Well, they'd need to send talent back to San Antonio--wing talent could be part of that return. It's more that players like Leonard aren't available very often. If you can get him, I think you do that and try to balance the roster either in that trade itself or in a subsequent one.

I mean, it kinda does. LA is such a unique situation as a FA.

Why is this so hard? 3 years ago there was not a unique situation with LA as a FA... Jalen says:

"We never say who's going to San Antonio to play with Kawhi."

When he's one of the people who reported TT going to San Antonio in FA...

TT was the biggest FA on the market at that time.

Kawhi to POR
