KP just said (minutes ago) that they were considering it, but do not have an offer ready. Hmmmm.

Well of course KP isn't going to say that. He's not going to give ANY information away.

There.

Re: Millsap offer official now. Sent to Utah.

If this is true does it in any way force Utah's hand to make that 3 team trade the moves Boozer to Chicago and Hinirch to Portland? If Utah matches the offer, are they pretty much forced to make that deal in order to keep Millsap?

Re: Millsap offer official now. Sent to Utah.

Well considering that Quick writes for the Oregonian and there is nothing there, I am wondering that myself. Could have been on the radio though I guess.

KP did indicate that the Blazers had considered an offer for Milsap that had a lot of front end money. This would get the Jazz worse because they would have to eat the tax this year (Boozer could be gone next). So obviously they are close. It could also end up in a sign and trade if it comes to that point.

Yeah. Pritchard basically validated Quick's Roy/LMA article, and he certainly didn't distance himself from it when Canzano asked about it.

IF this is true the Kirk to Portland deal is not going to happen.

Even a blind pig finds some corn now and then.

I'm just a little surprised to hear Quick so plugged in after years of him not really have a clue what is going on with the team. Does he have an inside source all of the sudden?

That's not true at all. This forces Utah to either match or trade Boozer (likely to us, since we're the only team left that would absorb his salary).

This is fucking great!

Roy's agent would be my guess. Or LMA's. They work for the same agency.

oh snap! UTAH IZ BOUT TO GET PRITCH SLAPPED!

PRITCH SLAPPPPPED!

Re: Millsap offer official now. Sent to Utah.

Actually, if this is true, Kirk to Portland is more likely.

+1.

Portland needs Hinrich more than Milsap. This is just Porltand's way of forcing Utah's hand. I just hope they get more than Hinrich out of it. Hinrich for $9M in cap space is questionable to me, and when you have the upper hand you should be able to get more out. The problem is that Utah doesn't really have anything that we need (that they would give up under this scenario).

I wouldn't read anything into it one way or another. The ESPN article I linked said that Utah may just trade Boozer elsewhere for cheap in order to save the cash and not have Milsap go to a conference rival, with the definitive goal being "Anywhere but Portland".

You sure that OKC wouldn't? They have their perimeter pretty well sorted with Westbrook, Harden and Durant. What they need most is a legitimate post presence and Boozer gives them a post scorer and rebounder. It seems like they could be quite interested in Boozer.

Yea fortunately for us OKC is in the same division, so there is no incentive there either.

Re: Millsap offer official now. Sent to Utah.

So what is the Blazers' preference? Force Utah to match and then trade Boozer to get us Hinrich?
Or try to get Millsap altogether for ourselves?

Or do we see both options being equally as good for us?

Re: Millsap offer official now. Sent to Utah.

Question for the CBA guys. If Portland makes a front-loaded offer ($10M; $9M; $8M; $8M) to Milsap, and Milsap signs up; is Utah stuck with that structure, or could they somehow change it? I don't think Utah can change it on their own, but what if they do a deal with the Blazers (that Milsap likes)?

I'm wondering what happens if Portland send Milsap a 10/9/8/8 offer, he signs it, then Utah give up and approves the Chicago deal. Can Utah end up with a 8/8/9/10 offer to Milsap, or are they stuck with the original Portland offer?

Re: Millsap offer official now. Sent to Utah.

Apparently the offer is very front loaded with a lot of bonuses. Quick "knows" the amount but won't say. Also says it makes him the highest paid player next year for the Blazers, if he does indeed sign it.

Shit, I would be happy with either! Great move KP!
