Soooooooooo...

Let's review today's events: Russians, poor victims. FBI & DOJ, evil criminals.

Another waste of taxpayer money.

Oh! I don't think so. The statutes that authorize the FBI are way past due for coming under scrutiny.

They have abusive power that does not line up with our Constitution at all.
Exactly..... and this showboat exercise by the Republicans will accomplish nothing. When Hoover was in there for 40+ years, he authorized wire taps, and smeared the private lives of famous people like Morrison, Lennon and so forth. No politicians stopped them because of the power Edgar exercised. On the other hand the Bureau did serve the country but certain people in there do as they may.

Such "head-in-the-sand" cowardice is why there is little freedom in the world today.

Barfo is seriously trembling in fear of the truth.

Sorry to hear that, I thought you were merely delusional. Hope you can conquer your fears someday.

It may turn out as you say. But at least someone wants to take a look. I hope you have a representative you can encourage to help. I sure as hell do not.

Title is Fake.

The entire House Intelligence Committee met and voted to open an investigation.

It was not something the Reps just did on their own.

'Cause Democracy and the Rule of Law.

Mar, I do have a representative. I have his site on my favorites column. Thanks for the reminder.

Why are Democrats so intent on protecting the scumbags in government?

Shine a light on them and they scurry for cover, like the cockroaches they are.

I say let the light shine on all of them, republican or democrat, congress or executive branch.

Apparently the abuses are quite extensive. You can't have that in the FBI regardless of whom you like or don't like as President.

Axios, not a friend of Trump, reports McCabe was forced out as well.

The swap is draining. The gators are digging a hole. The Dems are losing their last raft.

“As expressed during our initial review, we have grave concerns about the material omissions of fact that fundamentally impact the memo’s accuracy,’’ the FBI said in a statement.

You do get it that the memo is findings against the FBI, right?

Of course they have grave concerns. About the truth coming out.

For decades, the FBI ran an illegal, unconstitutional counterintelligence program known as COINTELPRO. COINTELPRO targeted Americans engaged in lawful dissent. It focused on disrupting and trying to damage labor unions, the civil rights movement, peace movement, Black Panthers, and environmentalists. It used rumors and what we would now call "fake news" to try to discredit Martin Luther King and Malcolm X, in order to prevent what the FBI called "the rise of a black messiah". The FBI destroyed livelihoods, and sometimes lives, of dissenters in media, academia, the arts, and ordinary jobs. They were actively engaged in the murders of Fred Hampton and Mark Clark.

And NOW we hear the FBI is this bastion of liberalism out to destroy the god-chosen gatekeeper of American values, Donald Trump? What fucking planet am I living in?

As Senator Claire McCaskell put it, for years the Republican Party praised law enforcement and demanded getting tougher on Russia. Now they love Russia and hate law enforcement.

I get that. I also get that the truth here will be known eventually, so I'm 100% in favor of releasing the memo. Although it will fool some people for awhile, in the end the full story will be released and people will see how deceptive the memo was.

"Liberals" are so concerned about Trump administration turnover.

How about the FBI turnover?

Comey (for cause)
Top FBI Lawyer (General Counsel) James Baker
Strzok (barfo admits he's biased)
McCabe
FBI Chief of Staff Jim Rybicki
Bruce Ohr demoted twice (he was associate deputy attorney general)

(Those off the top of my head, there may be a few more)

Draining the swamp.

I don't think we are concerned about it. We are laughing at it.

The FBI turnover is a laughing matter, too?

Surely you have some democratic party talking points about that.

Comey richly deserved to be fired, just not for the reason he actually was fired.
Very unclear to me what Baker or Rybiki or Ohr did (right, wrong, or otherwise). No data.
Strzok - clear he thought Trump was an idiot - as do most people. Not clear that he let that bias his work. Clear that he had an inappropriate workplace relationship and was stupid enough to use fbi phones for personal texts. For that I support his demotion.
McCabe - seems like the start of an interesting story, I think we will learn more in the coming weeks.

Nothing in the Constitution authorizes the FBI. So it is a complete creation of Congress which has never been properly done. Some of the powers give to the FBI logically should require amendments to the Constitution.

For instance, you can not be forced to incriminate yourself. Thus we have the 5th amendment.
Your Spouse can not be forced to testify against you.
The we have the FBI being able to charge you with lying to the FBI?

This is clearly not within the intent of the protections we as a people have in the Constitution.

The idea that the FBI must be semi separate from the Executive branch defiles sensible organization logic.
They are or would be unaccountable to anyone this way, especially with no link to the people.

This is just a start.

Actually the same applies to the Railroad police which is the pattern used to create the FBI.
An individual has no access to due process when abused by either of these organisations.
Totally unacceptable!

But you don't see a pattern of a number of high ranking FBI officials in deep trouble, fired, demoted, etc.

That they are, the turnover and demotions, is fact.
