Headley

2014 .243 13hrs 49 RBIs .328 OBP .372 SLG .700 OPS

2015 .271 9hrs 50 RBIs .329 OBP .386 SLG .715 OPS (20 Errors)

Solarte

2014 .260 10hrs 48 RBIs .336 OBP .369 SLG .705 OPS

2015 .268 10hrs 49 RBIs .324 OBP .423 SLG .747 OPS ( 9 Errors)

Good trade right?

I forgot to add that Solarte is younger and is making $500K this year compared to the idiotic contract Headley got. Like I said in the game thread Headley hasn't been terrible at the plate. The problem is you're getting zero power out of him. The amount of errors have been absurd and he would have 30 if Tex didn't have one of the better gloves in baseball.

I'd really like to know EXACTLY what Cashman is looking at when he makes his decisions. I mean you would think that there has to be be some kind of method to his madness.

They looked at one unconscious year Headley had that he hasn't come anywhere close to since.

Hey Rick what happened to the poster that used to come here once in a while. He would always end his rant with ...lolz

Another example why Yankee gm does not play with
a full deck. Geeesh!

That was BLG, I think he stopped posting because it bothered him that we didn't agree with EVERYTHING he said. I've never seen anyone that LOL as much as that guy.

He seems like a good Yankee fan but it hurts you when you spend and entire season on a message board trying to prove your spring training comments as being correct. You have to go day to day instead of not being able to let go of the past. Plus, the gimmick doesn't really work while the Yankees are not hitting, losing games and are no longer in first place.

Ok got it....Thanks........lolz

Solo started out strong then seemed to go into a funk. Probably did not give him enough time, I remember the Yankees fans liked and supported him, the man took out a nice ad thanking Yankee Fans when he was traded. An alleged left side improvement of Gregorius and Headley has somewhat been a disaster on both sides of the diamond. Gregorius has shaped up but Headley ain't even close to Nettles.

sorry...it should be sacrilege to mention Nettles (or Brosius) in the same post as Headley. I'd rather have Alex at 3B...to clear the DH spot.

I do not end all of my posts with "lol" nor do I think I'm always right. Unlike most of the reg posters I just prefer not to bash and criticize the team AND the GM nearly as much as the board does while this team has and still is very much alive to win the division. The race isn't over yet and the final results including trades aren't in! And Headley might be the Yanks best hitter w/risp for the season. He has had a terrible year defensively and by and large he has - IMHO - helped the Yanks more than he has hurt them. As you'll see, this board is top heavy with Cashman bashers who try and avoid any good moves he has made including, AT THIS POINT, fleecing Dombrowski for a good young SS.
Not saying Cashman is a "great" GM....but Dombrowski is the patron saint of this board.
Just wanted to clear a couple of things up 'cause I don't need Rick or anyone else to speak for me...Yanks 1.5 games out of 1st place as we speak and the post season sky hasn't fallen yet. You see Lil, I just don't whine as much as some of these nags.

the sky may not be falling, but chicken little is clearing his throat and its rather obvious....

Headley's fielding has been horrific this season. It doesn't make any sense since he was so solid last year. Outside of one season though he's nothing more than a singles hitter but is paid like and is expected to add more pop.

Who asked you any of this? She simply asked where you were and you on cue can't help yourself and feel the need to regurgitate your typical slop.

Headley has 50 friggin RBIs so clearly he's not driving in those runs. Coupled with the errors unless others are driving him in no he's not helping out as much as you seem to think.

Old Cashman would erase some of his transgressions if he could figure a way to trade Headley for a guy like say Nelson Arenado of the Rockies that would be really cool! Not likely though

The Yankees have a third baseman who hits a little but can't catch. a shortstop in transit to being good, a second baseman who can catch but God forbid him at the plate and a first baseman who appears to be wearing thin.

What's wrong, did I touch a nerve? Tell you're pal not to try and define me.

And just for the record- as of now, the past two trades between Dombrowski and Cashman--
Cashman got more in return FROM Dombrowksi for the Yanks than Dombrowski received FROM the YANKS.

You want reality. Dombrowski's Tigers were 3-0 in three playoff meetings with Cashman's Yankees.

...no, I think she's talking about our friend rickysapreal.

Almost forgot about that one. Last I heard the Reddit folks had enough of him also.

...yeah, he was the "lolz" guy...but I'm not surprised that someone else instead got their feelings hurt again.

...love the silver lining mentality.

"The Blown Opportunity", a Chapter from: "The Plan".....

proof Hank let the opportunity of firing Trashman, slip through his fingers.

I usually don't get into the comparing of GMs debate. One of the main reasons is because they're so many different factors involved depending on the particular dynamic of the franchise they're running. That being said the only thing that would matter to me if you want to compare the Yankees and Tigers is that the Tigers beat them in all three playoff match-ups.

And lets not forget the raise he also got.

Cashman's fate is going to be tied to the group of youngsters that hopefully will form the next winning nucleus. He will also need to spend all that money that will be coming off the books in the next couple of years wisely and add the right mix of experienced players.

...and don't forgot about what DD did while with the Marlins.

...for the most part, Dombrowski has owned Cashman;

Here are the dopey things Cashman has done with Dombrowski as a trading partner:

  • Traded Mike Lowell to Florida and got nothing good in return.
  • Gave up Ted Lilly for Jeff Weaver.
  • Traded Gary Sheffield to Detroit and got nothing good in return.
  • Traded Austin Jackson and Ian Kennedy for Curtis Granderson in a three-way deal. Detroit got Jackson and Max Scherzer in that deal. Granderson was good, but ultimately, the trade still favored Detroit.
