RHJ vs MKG

There is a lot of love for RHJ but to me he looks a lot like MKG who was much higher rated (#2 pick), bigger and neither of them could shoot from the outside.[/color]

RHJ: 6'7", 211 lbs - 11.2 pts, 6.8 rebs, 1.6 assts, 1.6 TOs, 50.2% FG, 20.7% 3-pt, 7'2" wingspan, 38" max vert. (sophomore)
MKG: 6'7" 233 lbs - 11.9 pts, 7.4 rebs, 1.9 assts, 2.2 TOs, 49.1% FG, 25.5% 3-pt, 7'0" wingspan, 37" max vert. (freshman)

Kidd-Gilchrist has yet to really have much of an impact in the NBA and was considered a much better prospect with a broken shot. The shot is not fixed and though he scores a bit, it very much limits what his team can do because he can't stretch the floor at all. Especially in Stotts system, it would seem to not be a very good fit even though I like his defensive abilities.

I only saw RHJ play in a couple of games...does anyone have more of an idea about his abilities?

You are comparing a guy projected to go in the early 20s to a guy who was a consensus top 5 pick. I'd say that was a point in RHJ's favor!

It was more of a comment on a guy who was supposed to be even more talented and yet is marginal in the NBA because he can't shoot. MKG shot 25% higher from '3' than RHJ does. In the game nowadays, it turns him into an Alonzo Gee type of player who doesn't even shoot that well. Great energy and defender but relegated to a small role because it would be 4-on-5 on offense.

This is where I think advanced stats help you. Kidd-Gilchrist, while he can't shoot, supposedly could do everything else. So he has a better handle, better court vision, that kind of thing.

I would LOVE to get Kidd-Gilchrist.

That's just not true. Unless you mean simply because he's on the Hornets, so by definition he's "marginal in the NBA".

If you watched MKG play more than just a random Blazer game he is already likely the best perimeter defender in the NBA. Dude is a flat out monster on that side of the ball and he is improving offensively, which is hard when you play with such a terrible PG like Kemba Walker.
