TRAIL BLAZERS MAKE CHANGE IN GENERALMANAGER POSITION

Chad Buchanan named acting generalmanager

PORTLAND,Ore. – The Portland Trail Blazersannounced today that they have parted ways with Rich Cho, the team’sgeneral manager of basketball operations.

“The fitbetween Rich and our team simply wasn’t right,” said Trail Blazers President LarryMiller. “This was a tough move because I respect Rich and he’s a goodperson with many strong skills. But it simply wasn’t a good match.”

Trail BlazersDirector of College Scouting Chad Buchanan will serve as acting generalmanager. Buchanan has been with the team for four years. Buchanan and HeadCoach Nate McMillan will report to Miller until a permanent replacementis hired.

Trail BlazersOwner Paul G. Allen said the move is part of the franchise’s commitmentto building a championship contending team. “This decision, as difficult as itwas to make, reflects our willingness to admit and recognize that thingshaven’t worked out,” Allen said. “We’re going to be tough on ourselves inassessing what we could have done better, and then go out and find theexecutive who is the best fit with the needs of our franchise. That chemistryand connection is critically important.”

wonder if it has to do with cho wanting to suspend roy? or maybe he was trying to trade him???

Whoa. Didn't see this coming. He engineered a Przybilla for Gerald Wallace trade and now he's out??? I don't understand our Vulcans sometimes.

wow. Wonder if this is Cho wanting mroe to rebuild, and PA wanting to still win now. Damn.

But Miller does not want to be GM.....Remember that LOL

I was already done with this team. Now I'm saddened for the city. Fuckin sell the team Paul

I'll await further details but on face value i don't like this. Either hire a GM and let him do his thing or let PA or whoever meddle and call the shots, no friggin decent GM is going to want to come here.

Has anyone even seen Cho since the rapture?

More puzzling front-office stuff going on behind the scenes in this franchise. Just weird.

I am either really happy or really sad about this.

If Cho really thought we were 1 to 2 pieces from contending than I am ecstatic. If Cho wanted to rebuild then i am really sad. This team is not close, and hopefully the people in charge understand that.

I'm beginning to think the Vulcans may not be the stable group of geniuses that we thought they were.

I wonder if Cho is still going to be on Canzano's show today?

You know how championship teams are built? Sure you have to have talent and yes you have to have some luck, but the one constant is a steady hand in upper management/ownership and a clear vision.

Paul Allen = Al Davis minus the tracksuit

There were plenty of reports around the trade deadline that Cho wanted to scrap things and start over.

I wonder how much Allen is involving himself. With Davis, it was obvious that he micro-managed everything, right down to what the concession stands stocked. With Allen, it's not so clear.

Either way, the Blazers are starting to look as erratic as the Raiders, I agree.
