Richard Tillman, Pat Tillman's brother, on Real Time with Bill Maher

I doubt Pat or Richard Tillman would give a fuck about your opinion when it comes to Pat's life. "Regardless of how his death was used by the military"? Seriously? You think that it demean Pat's life to go on Bill Maher and speak the truth, but it doesn't matter that the military tried to cover up how he died. You are a great person.

I think the reason the military may have tried to cover up the real cause of death was mainly to try to preserve Tillman's 'hero' status and (and I didn't read book or see movie) I believe sometimes their is political pressure to find the hero and feelgood story... and Tillman's story as a huge publicity boost for the military and really anyone patriotic had to feel good about what he did (passing up $$$ to join the miliary) I am sure there was pressure to protect that and make him even more of a hero than he was. The cover up was bad yes... but the intentions behind it may not have been as evil as is being portrayed.

I don't think it completely demeans Pat's life or death, and I never said that it does not matter, or that I condone, how the military exploited Pat's death. I think it is political, and that Richard Tillman is having trouble coping with his brother's death after all of these years. His rant where he ripped others eulogizing his brother at Pat's memorial service (while drinking beer) did also demean Pat's life in my view, though. It came off as small-time and petty. Letting Maher exploit him isn't a positive, IMO, but Richard seems to like the spotlight.

I completely disagree and I think we should both defer to Pat's own brother's opinion on what Pat would or would not want him to say. It's obvious Richard thinks Pat would have called out anyone talking about religious entities when the person wasn't religious. Pat didn't believe in a god. I don't either and I would hope someone would do the same thing Richard did for me.

The orig. video was taken down. Here's the interview. Richard Tillman is freaking awesome. He speaks his mind 100%.

You don't seem to be up in arms about me using the term "dick." But you are about "pussy." Why is that?

Whuh?

I like cats. I never think of them when I say "pussy" in the sense I used. I also don't think of vaginas when I use that term either. I certainly never think of "nasty smelly lady part" when I use the term.

I mostly think of sports bulletin boards and other places where mostly guys hang out and say sometimes juvenile shit to each other when I think of the word.

Anyway, that "nasty smelly lady part" line is seriously troubling me. That's a fucked up thing to say about one of the most fantastic things in existence.

It's like calling a t-bone steak "nasty smelly charred cow muscle." It can be nasty and smelly if you leave it to ripen in the hot sun for weeks without rinsing, but why would anyone do that? A t-bone and a vagina are terrible things to waste. I know if Pat Tilman were here he would agree with me.

Seriously, you and I have little in common, but I like to think we both appreciate a nice vagina.

It's interesting for me that both you and Crandc used the term "fucked" in a derogatory sense. Of course almost all of us use "fuck" as part of a hostile phrase. Look how we use all the terms for our genitalia and for sex in insults and hostile phrases.
What the fuck is that about? Don't sex and our genitals give us the most pleasure we get in this fucking miserable life?

Since I'm not a guy it's not up to me whether "dick" or "prick" as insults are derogatory to men.

To serious issues, the only exploitation was Pat being used to promote a war in Iraq with which he disagreed, to promote religious views with which he disagreed, and to promote a fake story line to make the military and administration look better. I was not at all offended by Pat's brother at the funeral. Fuck (used purposely!) yeah, when I kick off I'd be honored if someone had a drink in my memory. And I don't want someone trying to make me into what I'm not. Had Pat been an unknown young man who died in a car crash, his funeral and memorial would be private. His career and decisions made him a public figure. And his family has every right in the world to set the record straight and find out what really happened. To say they are making money from Pat's death (any evidence, or just being fucking mean) (yes, deliberate) is really slandering them.
