So far, all they have reported is, they do not know what is going on inside of his head. And that is a quote as best I remember.

Does cocaine last two days? I really do not know, never used the junk.

The attacker, from LA, had been staying at the same apartments.. He had been causing trouble, and was asked to leave on Friday.

Two days after the attack, they still do not have any idea why he did it. They do not believe it was a terrorist attack.

crack is meth and cocaine and it's known to cause uncontrollable incredible Hulk type violence and eratic behavior....crackheads are dangerous because they're amped up....junkies just nod out

When I first moved out in the woods here 20 years ago from Portland there were lots of these crackheads around...they're aren't that many around anymore...progress..rural Oregon has some serious meth problems. My work required that I knew all about these problems and I learned the symptoms, etc....that stuff is death

The local noon news reports the attack was retaliation for his being thrown out of the appartment complex the day before.

Victims were random targets.

Rural?

Meth is an urban and immigration issue, mostly stamped out in rural areas now. 90% of all meth comes from Mexico and the bulk of Oregon users live in the Portland area.

Here in Beautiful Central Oregon what little meth trafficking there is exists in Bend.

you just glossed over the statement I made about it being much better now than 20 years ago but your racial take on it is pure bullshit...meth is a white trash drug all over the country....white couple with confederate flags and 7 kids down the mountain from me burned their house to the ground cooking meth in the dead of winter a few years back....the news in Lane county is always looking for some pimple faced white tweaker who's on the run …..Mexicans where I live are hard working family folks....I lived in Portland and didn't see any tweakers in the Wilsonville burbs....go to the rural communities and you'll see them twitching around..doesn't quite fit your narrative....I have in laws in Bend and from what I see....no tweaker could afford to live in Bend...maybe Prineville

Consider yourself lucky if you do not have meth labs near you.

I covered a lot of the rural PNW, for several years, looking for "my" ideal retirement home. I ran into meth labs everywhere in the rural areas. Many of the repossessed HUD homes for sale were used as meth labs.

There is a meth lab about 1/2 mile from my retirement home. The police know about it, but, do not have room in the jails for them. So it continues to operate, until something real bad happens.

Yes, it is really a shame that a beautiful countryside has more than a few of the blight. Oregon and Northern California seem to have an in ordinate share. But look and you can find.
Thankfully my neighborhood of 50 homes is free of the scourge . CC&Rs with aggressive enforcement and a neighborhood watch made it possible to grow from 10 homes to 50 without the blight.

My best friend, RIP, had beautiful acerage out in the country. He owned it for many decades, but since his kids grew up, he seldom went there.

One year we decided to use his property to camp on while we hunted nearby. One afternoon, he wanted to just drive around, take a trip down memory lane showing me all the fun spots he and his family had enjoyed.

He was very disappointed by how bad things had become around his property. Then we drove right into the middle of a meth lab. It was bad, and the people there were very bad looking, with lots rifles leaning against trees and the building.

I stopped the truck, and without say a word, we both drew our pistols, but kept them out of their sight.

I slowly backed the truck up, and got out of there. If only one of them had reached for a rifle, it would have started a gun fight.

My friend knew the local sherriff and called him. The sherriff knew about the meth lab. Then asked if we had seen any bodies laying around. And not to report the meth lab again, unless he saw bodies. Yikes!
