The Rio Grande Valley Vipers put their powerful offense to work on day four of NBA D-League Showcase presented by Samsung Galaxy, as they defeated the Maine Red Claws by a score of 126-106.
Robert Covington shined for Rio Grande Valley as he compiled 26 points, seven rebounds and two steals to lead the way for the Vipers. He was 9-for-19 from the floor and 6-for-10 from behind the arc. He was one of seven players to score in double-figures for the Vipers in the contest.

Troy Daniels tallied 19 points on 5-for-12 shooting, including going 5-for-11 on 3-point attempts. Christapher Johnson scored 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds and Gary Talton recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 assists in the win.

The blueprint for Rio Grande Valley is clear when you watch them, shoot the 3-pointer early and often. The blueprint is derived from the thinking that open shots are the best shots. If you are looking for an open shot, there isn't a better place to look than behind the three-point line. As a team they would nail 18-of-43 attempts for the game. The game plan has panned out for them thus far as they pushed their record to 14-3, the best in the NBA D-League.

The Red Claws were off to a strong start and limited the Vipers to 25 points in the first-quarter on .368 shooting from the floor but they would break out in the second quarter scoring 43 points and connecting on 7-of-13 attempts from behind the arc in the quarter. They carried a 68-60 lead into the half.

They opened up a 20 point lead going into the 4th quarter and their biggest lead was at 126-103 in the final minute.

Maine brought some offense of their own with them in Boston Celtics' assignee MarShon Brooks, who lead the Red Claws in scoring for the fifth consecutive game with 26 points. Chris Wright scored 25 points and Romero Osby added 20 points.

Rio Grande Valley will return to action tomorrow and take on the Santa Cruz Warriors at 12:40 p.m. Maine has concluded their showcase slate and they will travel to Santa Cruz for a game on Friday at 7 p.m.
