I have actually met him twice. Super nice guy. Seemed very genuine.

Extremely funny

I liked him, at least what I saw.

69 isn't that old.

The world got a little darker. RIP Alan. My thoughts are with him and his family.

Back when basic cable TV in Bellingham had only 25 channels, it still had Canadian networks. Before Thicke's 1983 American talk show competing with Johnny Carson, he had a 1980-82 Canadian talk show. I just saw little pieces of it back then, so here is 10 minutes and we'll watch it together. I don't know whether this will be good or bad.

Oh, I see. This is an interview of him, made between the 2 talk shows. Not a funny excerpt from his talk show. Too bad.

His son looks like a real clone of dad....sorry for their loss...all these celebrities are dying at 69 this year.

He started both talk shows with a monologue in which he looked drunk, like Scottish Craig Ferguson 30 years later. He swayed as he stood and slurred his speech a little. He wasn't eagle-eyed like the big hosts; he was more red-eyed. This fit the late-70s majority attitude to authority. I wanted to watch him more, but to save time I had abandoned TV pretty much by then, so I only saw a minute a few times (same for Ferguson later). Later, he had some situation comedies (I know nothing). He went out like a true Canadian, heart attack while playing hockey at almost age 70.
