Is that for all teams, or just on Utah's end?
Just for Utah and Cleveland I believe. I think the bottom line is this: It possibly works similarly constructed but you need that slight difference in contracts between Love and Gallinari to make it work completely. Can you make it work if they trade them straight across first? If not then I don't think this is valid.

I think it's a stupid rule, same with the non-guaranteed new rule, but we have to play by the rules.

I kind of understand it but there's easier ways to protect from teams trading for a higher salary, then trading that again for an even higher salary, etc.

I definitely could make it work. It'd be fine on Utah's end, and Cleveland would simply have to send me Clarkson or Smith instead of Korver... But apparently all this is for nothing lol.

I was trying to figure out a way to make the trade work logistically before I came back and sought the approval of everyone.

I was thinking bout it. I do that trade I have half a team, no picks. Seems like a worse plase than Utah is in at the moment. I acknowledge the Galinari trade wasn't a real good one. Trying to do whats right for Utah not whats right for BonesJones

@hoopsjock Gallo to Cleveland and Love to Utah, but those two and draft picks are excluded to show how the trade would work without them

CLE Gets: Kawhi Leonard, Ekpe Udoh, Thabo Sefelosha (TPE)
UTA Gets: Dwight Powell
SAS Gets: J.R. Smith, Cedi Osman, Ante Zizic
DAL Gets: LaMarcus Aldridge

or this one (picks would be different):

CLE Gets: Kawhi Leonard, Ekpe Udoh, Thabo Sefelosha (TPE)
UTA Gets: J.R. Smith
SAS Gets: Dwight Powell, Jonas Jerebko, Cedi Osman, Ante Zizic
DAL Gets: LaMarcus Aldridge

Seemed like you did it because of the Royce O'Neal thing haha. I wasn't trying to put one over I was just trying to figure out a way to make things work logistically.

What if I sent in #33 your way? Love would be a perfect fit with Gobert, and you're team is improved with Conley in there. You'd have a team that could contend IMO. Love, Conley, Gobert, and Mitchell is nasty. #33 could get a rotation player too.

@Chris Craig I have two different options for you. Hopefully you'll like one.

Option 1:
UTA Gets: Kevin Love, Dwight Powell, #33
UTA Sends: #13, #21, Gallinari, Sefelosha, Udoh

Option 2:
UTA Gets: Kevin Love, J.R. Smith
UTA Sends: #13, Gallinari, Jerebko, Udoh

Option 2 including the 33rd

You're getting an all-star who's a perfect fit for your team for a late lottery pick, and you're shedding $10M of bad salary by swapping Gallinari for Smith, and also getting a future 2nd.. That's an absolute steal.

Ok fine option 2

Jerebko's contract has to guarantee as well. Team options are considered non-guaranteed too. I'll have to run the numbers later for the rest.

But I just thought of something. The Cavs can't trade the 8th pick because they owe their 1st rounder next year. This would have to be a draft trade therefore no pieces in this deal will be able to be traded again as everything will be on hold including the picks.

Damn lol.

@BlazerDuckSeahawkFan94 I could send you San Antonios 2019 1st, you could send me CLEs 2020 and 2022 1sts?

The Cleveland picks couldn't have protections if it's 2021 and 2023 either because it is dependent on when the other pick conveys and protecting the 2021 pick could put it too far out to be trade eligible.

Soooooooo, I hate to be a buzzkill but the 4 team trade earlier between the Bulls, Bucks, Heat, and Spurs also HAS to be a draft day trade as well because the Bucks owe their pick to the Suns in 2019.

Damn make it a 2020 or 2021

Or the Bucks could acquire a 1st round pick in this draft (or the 2019 draft but it would have to be unprotected) to avoid the rule.[/QUOTE

I dont know if the bulls, heat, or spurs have a late 1st rnd theyd be willing to throw in
