Thank you to everyone who decided to play this year! If you don't know how to use the inbox on this site it becomes pretty important when discussing trades so I suggest you check it frequently (it's up near the top right corner next to alerts).
I have created a spreadsheet for each team that lets you know the individual and team salaries for your roster. It also has your draft picks and any trade exceptions you might have. As trades occur I will change the spreadsheet to reflect the changes. I think they are view only but if not please don't mess with them. Feel free to copy yours and save it on your computer if you want to edit or make notes on it. The team salaries for the 2019-20 season are not the actual numbers yet. Many of the teams have player or team options, non-guaranteed contracts, and qualifying offers that may or may not be included. There will be a time after the draft where each GM will have to make those roster decisions and I will update them then. The team salary for 2019-20 also doesn't include any unrestricted free agent cap holds which will also be added after teams decide whether or not to renounce certain free agents. Please feel free to contact me with as many questions as you want about these sheets or the game or anything else. Here is the link to the spreadsheets:

Official Rules:
We try to uphold most of the CBA rules for trades. For now just assume all the rules must be followed. Occasionally there are some rules that make the flow and timing of the game difficult so we will discuss any of those if they become an issue.
1) All teams are given as is in real life. Any trade exceptions, draft picks, players, etc can be used in transactions as long as those players are tradeable (which we'll get to in a moment).
2) Prior to the draft every trade and transaction will use the 2018-19 salaries. Free agents are NOT able to be traded. Players with a player option are NOT allowed to be traded unless they officially opt in to their contract in real life. For those that haven't opted in or out before our free agency starts we will have people from the outside decide for them in a reasonable manner. Players with a team option ARE tradeable. Those player options are due on the days between our draft and our free agency. Players with non-guaranteed contracts or partially guaranteed contracts only count as the guaranteed part of their contract in trades unless the team accepting said player guarantees his contract.
3) All trades MUST follow the CBA rules. Players with no-trade clauses in their contract are not tradeable unless an outside contributor agrees that it would be a situation that player would waive it to complete. For example, when LeBron was on Cleveland he wouldn't have accepted a trade to Orlando or whatever. How we are going to play it is anyone who is eligible to be traded before the real draft date of June 20th is now eligible to be traded. For others we will treat them on a case by case basis. If someone else's date is in early July then he'll likely be available to trade when free agency is over.
4) There are several trade rules to keep in mind. You can't reacquire a player you traded away this summer. Any players traded for can't be combined with other players to be re-traded for a bigger player for two months. For example if you trade for Aminu making $7 million you can't then add him to Zach Randolph's 12.5 million to get a $20 million player like George Hill (last year's example, lol). You can however re-trade Aminu by himself for another player. There are also certain players who have a poison pill contract and are very difficult to trade until the new league year. We also have to follow the Stepien Rule for draft picks in which teams can't trade future draft picks in consecutive year. There is a way to skirt this rule if the trade is agreed to happen at the draft but then those players and picks in the trade will not be eligible to be traded again before the free agency period starts. Please, please, please think about your team's future. It would be very easy to trade away 4 future unprotected 1sts but then you'd likely become the Nets and no one wants that. Lets pretend that in the future we will continue this game so you don't want to screw your team over.
5) Draft date TBD. We will see how trades go first.
6) At the draft we will have two types of trades just like in real life, ones that are effective immediately and ones that take place in the new league year. Trades that take massive amounts of cap space in July will not be allowed unless you can prove that you will for sure have the space. Just because a team has a certain amount of guaranteed contracts that seem like you'll have plenty of cap room there are roster holds and cap holds and draft pick holds that could make your space not as much as it seems.
7) Free agency we will talk about the specifics later. We will have other forum members who aren't participating act as agents and make decisions based on your pitches to them.
8) For those of you with two teams, you can't trade between your teams.
9) Have fun!
I mentioned this above but I really hope people treat their teams like a real GM of that team would. You're certainly allowed to do whatever you want but for example it is extremely unlikely that the Bucks would trade Giannis or the Nuggets would trade Jokic, etc. I'm not saying you can't trade those guys, I won't stop you, but these things get crazy enough without doing stuff like that so it's hard to keep them somewhat realistic. Treat future picks for their actual value and not just some throw away because you don't have to face the consequences for carelessly trading them away.
When the game starts, you are free to make moves. This thread is for all trade discussions. You can float out that certain players are on the block or you can publicly negotiate with other teams. Most people last year kept specific trade details to private messages until they were agreed upon but I think it's fun to see that stuff too.
There will be a separate thread for trades that are agreed upon. I will post the official trade and all participants of the trade must like it for it to go through (our version of faxing it in to the league office). All trades will be analyzed to make sure they work under the CBA.
If there is anything I didn't cover please let me know. I don't want anyone feeling lost so don't hesitate to bug me as much as you need to.
