Fats Domino, the New Orleans rhythm-and-blues singer whose two-fisted boogie-woogie piano and nonchalant vocals, heard on dozens of hits, made him one of the biggest stars of the early rock ’n’ roll era, has died at his home in Louisiana. He was 89.

I timed my wedding for the middle of a 3-day outdoor oldies Woodstock in 1990. We watched some famous acts in the afternoon of the 2nd day, got married, and returned for the evening act, Fats Domino. He smiled in his white suit, hammering the keyboard.
