Unless he said something to alienate them, or disown them (etc), it is almost unconscionable to not check in on your parents on a regular basis.

He married a woman who was their age. And it sounds like she was kind of Type A and sounds like she very much ran his life, and wouldn't let him use a wheelchair. Instead, forcing him to walk around with a cane.

This was probably all very good for him and probably contributed to him living to be 95 years old. But I could see the kids getting tired of it after butting heads a few times...

When my mom was still alive I would talk to my parents 2-3 times a week. After she passed I talk to my dad at least once a day. I just don't get no one talking or checking on them for over 2 weeks. Hopefully Gene left his kids nothing.

I know youve had good relationships with your parents. Especially the way you talk about them.

Not all of us are that lucky, unfortunately.

Being a Hollywood actor is kind of a different world. Usually they’re married 4 or 5 times and the kids are raised by nannies.

There’s a chance the kids are coke heads in inpatient while this was all going on.

Ehhhhhhh bro I got a BOOK full of reasons I won’t be checking in on EITHER of my parents. BOOK full! Everyone’s situation is different.
