...one less war criminal :dunno:

General Norman Schwarzkopf, Commander in Chief, U.S. Central Command, for his military leadership of the Iraqi carnage; for continuing the carnage two days after the cease-fire; for continuing it against Iraqis trying to surrender.

His father, same name, was instrumental in the illegal overthrow of Iran's democratically elected government in 1953.

Britain and the US (supposedly purveyors of freedom) put the exiled Shah back into authoritarian power in exchange for ceding control of Iranian oil to 7 oil companies (5 of them American).

Because of this illegal and heinous overthrow, the people of Iran suffered atrocities for decades and the US and Britain are justly reviled for the mass murders and torture they brought upon the Iranians simply to pad the pockets of a few oilmen.

This is why Iran wants nukes, and I can't really blame them. They followed the example of the US . They fought for freedom, instilled a democratic government, and were punished for it by the very countries that inspired their short-lived freedom.

You mean we didn't end the war when Iraq wanted to end it?!?

He means he continued killing innocent civilians, children and women, in a foreign country we were no longer at war with.

As an official representative of you and I.

Simultaneously, his boss Big Bush is in critical care possibly dying.

Noriega is still alive, shuffled from prison to prison. His crime was not obeying CIA orders during their 1980s Central America actions.

...one less war criminal :dunno:

Poor Iraq for getting its ass kicked after invading a smaller country. I don't see anyone weeping for the Germans after Russia trucked tens of thousands of German prisoners post-WWII back to the USSR, never to be seen or heard from again.

I'm proud to have served under his command. I wish he had run for President instead of Dole. Or Clinton, if the General fancied himself a Democrat.

A shining example of dignity, integrity, and class.

Fuck you for calling him a war criminal.

...I'm sorry, you're right, he was just doing his job -- very well!

That makes it his boss' fault. Blaming Bush makes the spelling easier.

Rep'd.

I often wonder why Maris is still allowed here when Mixim was not. Frankly, there's no difference between the two.

There is no similarity. Mixum wasn't political. He would start threads with one sentence telling us we should be sad over some limitation of the Blazers. Then he didn't reappear in the thread. He didn't engage in the dialogue he had initiated.

Maris puts together a bunch of sentences into a lengthy idea. He is explicitly and honestly out in the open, while Mixum was cleverly hiding and manipulative of our feelings about the team.

meh, Maris is a joke, read his disclaimer, specialy when his posted link shoots his own arguement down lol

I hope in secret that he is really a veteran and that we spent time in service..

We don't have a rule against unpopular speech or against people acting like idiots. You don't make it to near 14,000 posts if you aren't at least loyal to the site and community.

you know, my first reaction, mayhaps a knee jerk reaction is to echo Wook, and tell you to get fucked, and not in a nice way..I have held off as I want to be able to understand the "why" of your opinion.

I ran across this http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/25/us/civilian-military-gap-grows-as-fewer-americans-serve.html?_r=0

"At any given time in the past decade, less than 1 percent of the American population has been on active military duty, compared with 9 percent of Americans who were in uniform in World War II. As a result, there is a growing generation gap, with younger Americans far less likely than older ones to have a family member who served. "

from everything I have read in the past few days, this sums up the reasoning that I have come to accept as the root of the matter..

I hope for you that at some point your self aggrandizing, self important bull shit high horse allows you the vantage, perhaps in hindsight, to comprehend the destructive nature of your behavior

kudos to everyone for serving if they did, once you were in im sure many of you accomplished good or great things, saved people, helped build houses and nations, etc

chances are you also did or witnessed horrible unspeakable things in the name of democracy

you should be placed on a pedestal for your courage, but also pitied for your forced emotional sacrifice

that said, signing my life over to the highest bidder is not something i ever wanted to do

...maybe that's it, but I think it has a lot more to do with being anti-war than it does being anti-military per se. But unfortunately, the military industrial complex marches to their own beat -- directed by evil, far-reaching forces.

Fancy words to tell us that you recently discovered how small of a minority you are. Good people will always be in the majority, opposing those who kill and torture.
